The quality of these things is junk! We bought two at Bed Bath and Beyond and use one for salt and one for pepper. The light went out in the pepper mill and no longer works and the one in the salt mill works intermittently. In addition, the motor doesn't have enough power to break the sea salt free once it has set for a few hours and you have to bang it to get it started: this is with all brand new Duracell batteries. The little plastic piece around the light also rotates slightly, making it impossible to put the lower cover on until you reach underneath with your fingers and straighten the piece that is getting in the way. Avoid these units and buy a different brand!
