Product Review: Absolutely loving our Gdiapers!
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband and I just started G-diapering our new baby two weeks ago, at 3 weeks of age. We absolutely love them to pieces. Everything about them so far has been great - fit, convenience, absorbency, looks, environmental impact, price.

Fit - These started fitting right at 8 pounds. He is now at 10 pounds and they are great.

Convenience - They are a bit more inconvenient than a disposable, this is true. But I still find them extremely convenient, even when out and about. In my diaper bag instead of disposables I have an extra pant/liner, a few inserts, and a plastic baggie. This is all I need to take care of flushing (or tossing) while out and about, and the baggie is where the cover/liner goes if it gets poopy. In fact the only place they are obviously more inconvenient than a disposable is at home, since I have to put my son down somewhere safe and take them to the bathroom.

Absorbency - My son doesn't seem to be too heavy of a wetter. They are great at containing urine and breastfed BMs. I have never had a pee leak. Occasionally the poop will get a bit on the outer cover which means the pant needs to be washed, but it has never gotten out on his clothing. We have 7 gpants which is more than enough to only need to wash every 3-4 days.

Looks - The pants are so adorable. They look like bottoms all on their own. They look great just with a t-shirt instead of the trashy look you have with a disposable diaper and no bottoms. I find myself deliberately dressing him in tees instead of onesies so that I can show off his adorable tush.

Price - They are a bit more than a disposable, but if you sign up for Amazon delivery, you get 15% off which makes them almost the same price.

Environmental impact - I am very impressed and pleased with these because I know the pee/poop is going exactly where it belongs and I'm not putting anything into a landfill. I'm not exactly a crunchy mama, but I have always been appalled at the idea of garbage in general, so the idea of disposables really turned my stomach. I am so pleased to have an option in between disposables and cloth.

Speaking of cloth, the gdiaper is an excellent gateway diaper to cloth, and in fact can be used with cloth. Shortly I will be using cloth in my gdiaper covers, as gdiaper has just released their gcloth line of inserts. Because of the awesome inner liner, there will be a very small item to wash and again the covers will only need to be washed every few days.

Overall I am thrilled with this product and would heartily recommend it to any and all.

Product Review: Awful, unless you love doing laundry

I don't know really why these diapers don't work for us. Perhaps it has something to do with my son's gassiness and the force of his stooling. You just can't predict how your baby's digestion will work.

Anyway, this system NEVER contained my son's stools. EVER. It was an absolute mess every time. As I do not have a w/d in my apartment, the cost of these diapers rapidly spiraled out of control, taking into account all the washing of clothes and g-pants. My building is older, and the inserts never flushed properly. (YES, I followed all the instructions.)

Boo. These are awful, and I can't even get refunds. I use Pampers Swaddlers, and although they aren't green, at least I'm not using so much water and SWADDLERS CONTAIN THE STOOLS.

Product Review: Best of both worlds!!!!

When I started researching cloth diapers I was so set on a pocket diaper, but then I found gdiapers!!!!! Let me tell ya that I am soooooo glad I did all the research I did. I use prefolds in my gdiapers and love it. I only use the refills every once in awhile which totally cuts down the cost even more. i am currently making my own inserts. I want everyone to know that the gdiaper people are very friendly and if you have any concerns about fit or anything they are willing and very nice in helping you out! I would also like to comment that these diapers are actually less expensive then most of the AIO's and other types of cloth diapering systems available to parents these days.

Product Review: Cloth Diaper Wrap Alternative
Summary: 4 Stars

Taking the cue from some of the other reviewers here, I decided to try these as a cloth diaper wrap. This review is specifically about using these for that purpose as I have not tried the flushables yet.

PROS:
1. Cheaper than most cloth diaper wraps. Others are closer to twenty bucks a pop and this is only $13 per wrap if you purchase the starter kits.
2. Removable liner (this might be a con later...). When stool goes out the side, the removable liner catches it most of the time and you can simply wash those instead of the whole cover. This makes it so you can buy less of the covers (again making it cheaper than most other wrap options) and just wash the liners.
3. These are pretty cute. They look bulkier with the cloth inserts in but they are still cute and they are nice and soft for baby.

Cons:
1. I don't know about other cloth wraps but the stools often do go off the prefold onto the liner. This means that most of the time, you have an extra step in the changing process - removing the liner and rinsing it out and either hanging it to dry or putting it in the hamper for cleaning. This is sorta wierd because it requires you to leave baby while you go to the sink. For younger babies that are pooping many times a day, this may not be desireable. Not sure if other cloth wraps have the same problem.

All in all, we have been pleased with this set-up. It is a little extra work but we will commit to it to help the environment. Another side note for those considering using these for cloth wraps: The weight limits are for using these with the flushables which are about half as think as a prefold. If you are close to the weight limit, you might go ahead and buy the next size up because you have to fit a larger prefold in there which makes the fit more snug.
