Product Review: Ziploc Big Bags XL--a new concept in storage

Because I'm a BzzAgent, I got to try out the Ziploc Big Bags! Last weekend we went on a trip, and we used the XL Big Bags instead of suitcases because there isn't much room in our trunk, and bulky suitcases just take up too much room. The bags have a double seal which can be tricky to use, but once the bag is sealed, it's SEALED for good! My young boys had some difficulty getting the bags unsealed again. The XL bags were the perfect size for a weekend trip. Because the bags are see-through, it was easy to find where we put everything. I've also used these bags for storage, and because they seal so tightly, all I had to do was push the air out of the bag and seal it, and my winter clothes were taken care of until fall. What a great idea! We discovered that if the items in the bag are too heavy, it's difficult to carry the bag as the handle stretches. There are a few of issues I have with these bags and the box they come in. The first minor one is that they are not 'clear' as the box shows but rather a tinted blue color making it harder to see what's in them in low light conditions (a closet). Secondly, just like the smaller bags, these large bags can be really tricky to seal - especially since there are two seals that have to be lined up and pressed closed. You basically have to start from one end on a flat surface and work your way to the other otherwise it won't seal properly and you'll be left with a hole. Finally, although the bag is listed as being 2.1 feet long, its usable space is actually 5 inches shorter than that due to the fact that the ziplock seals are positioned approximately 5 inches down from the top of the bag. This can be an issue if you're expecting the bags as having at least 2 feet of useable space. The Hefty version of the same bag (XL) is far superior as it uses the entire bag and has a sliding piece on the top to make sealing the bags a cinch.Product Review: Soooo Handy!

These Ziploc Big Bags are fabulous. Great to store blankets/sheet sets for the guest bedroom. Super to store games that have millions of pieces and large boards that don't come apart once you put them together. Wonderful for craft supplies, keeps everything clean and dry. Can carry all those supplies to scout meetings, or store things for camping.

These bags are great though, and have a fantastic feel, are sturdy, and the biggest thing is no plastic bag odor! Gotta get you some!

Worst product I have ever bought. Have only used the first 3 bags from the box. They all have holes in them. They leak fluids out and aren't sealed air tight because of the holes. Will be asking for my money back.

This bag has been a lifesaver. I have used them to put out of season clothes in, to store in my closet. I had a leak in the closet and naturally the clothes stayed dried. They are just the right size and "zip" securely.
