I followed the directions exactly and made a 2 quart batch. The first time it came out a bit loose. It needs 9.5-10 hours to make the 2 quarts and 4.5 hours for the 1 quart. It is convenient once you get the milk heated and cooled to the correct temperatures as in directions. The thermomenter is included as well as the cultures for ten one quart batches. The directions are well written and easy to follow. The suggestions concerning adding the unflavored gelatin or dry milk are in an easy to read table and work as described. I have recommended this product to a few friends who eat yogurt. It saves about 40% cost considering the price of store bought yogurt and is fresher..no artificial sweetners or sugar and you can add your own fruit without the extra sugar. If you want to have natural yogurt that is easy to make then this is the right choice maker.

Product Review: less than a year and it's overheating

When we first got this, it worked great, we left it overnight and it created great yogurt. Then it started curdling the yogurt so what we got was more like ricotta cheese. We thought we were doing something wrong, but we've noticed that the temperature when we open it has been way too hot, over 112 degrees, which I think is why it's curdling. After reading other peoples comments, I'm wondering if it started at the beginning of summer when the weather warmed up.
We bought it because we were making yogurt in a crock pot waterbath which we were getting tired of monitoring the temperature all the time. Sounds like we have to do the same with this product now too or we end up having to trash the ruined yogurt, which we are paying $7/gallon for the milk we use. I will probably putter around with it to get it to work right, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it for someone who wants to make 'fuss free' yogurt.

Product Review: nothing like homemade

If you eat alot of yogurt, homemade is the only kind you should be eating. This machine is so easy to use. The first time I used this machine the yogurt came out perfect. I make mine with soymilk. We have the option of adding any fresh fruit of the day and anything else we desire. The large capacity container is easier to store in the fridge than all those individual containers. Enjoy!

it worked great i was very impressed with the quality of the yogurt and the ease of making it!! i added 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of imitation vanilla and it was better then any brand in the store and i am very very picky!!
