My parents tin of Petro Carbo was so old you could barely read the label. On the farm they simply called it cow salve because it closed the cuts on the cows hooves when they got into the barbed wire fence.
There is simply nothing that closes cuts like Petro Carbo (cow salve). I recently cut my finger such that most people would have run to the ER to get several stitches. I simply stopped the bleeding, disinfected with alcohol, applied cow salve and a bandaid. less than 48 hours later, cut completely closed, no scab and virtually healed.
