Product Reviews of Waterpik Waterflosser Cordless PLUS

Product Review: Disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

Disappointed in this travel pik as I have the full size Waterpik that is over 20 years old and perfect in what it does. This one works well BUT and it is a big BUT-- the reservoir is so small that it empties before you are ready to stop using it. It should be at least 2 1/2 times the size.

Product Review: Disappointing
Summary: 2 Stars

For a year now I've been using the Waterpik Personal Dental System. It's does the job but is noisy and cheesy looking, so I thought I'd treat myself to a nicer version and picked this one out.

First, let me say that this unit does what a Waterpik should do: clean between the teeth and under the gums, especially with gingivitis. But here's why this unit's going back to the local retailer, assuming they'll accept the return:

* The small reservoir wouldn't be such a pain if I didn't have to mix mouthwash with the water, which means handling the thing with wet and slippery hands two or three times a session while blue liquid is dripping down my chin onto my shirt.

* It's awkward to hold. It wouldn't be so bad if the ring that turns the jet were easy to get to. My countertop version has a ring on the top of the small handheld assembly so I can keep a finger on it while holding the assembly. I'd need gigantic hands to do that with this one, especially when the reservoir is full.

* There's no convenient way to store any of the attachments, even the one you prefer. The only solution is to leave the attachment plugged in. If this is really meant to be portable, I'd expect at least a ventilated travel container for the attachments.

* The reservoir's filling hole is too small to do anything more than rinse it out, and even in a dry climate it doesn't dry out between uses. Therefore I'd feel compelled to disinfect it at least once a week to prevent bacteria from growing. Who needs that?

Bottom line: It's better than nothing and portable. If I traveled a lot I'd consider keeping it. But I don't, so I'm going to see if I can find a new corded version that's maybe a little more sturdy than my old unit.

Product Review: Do Not Leave Home Without It
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this product for travelling purposes. It meets my needs just fine. Not too large, easy to pack, and reasonably light in weight. Easy to handle and maneuver while using. The jet is concentrated and penetratiing, giving a perfect clean and aeration, as well as gum health maintenance and preservation. The water reservoir holds only seven ounces, so you may need to refill as necessary for personal preference. I would not recommend it for home use, would be too time consuming, I'd prefer a much larger model. However, it is ideal for travelling, to which end, I use it with every satisfaction, and I do recommend it.

Product Review: Do not buy this waterpik!
Summary: 1 Stars

I have been using it now for two months and I think that the unit is a disaster.
PROS: it's cordless, it holds a charge for many hours, it is small enough to take along if traveling.
CONS: it's jet rotates in your mouth so it is impossible to aim at a particular spot unless you hold the jet with the other hand which is rather awkward. But even then the jet easily flips and slips around in your mouth such that you need several refills to do a good cleaning.
Worse: the jet tends to jump off, spraying your face, the mirror, the bathroom, everything. It's a facial shower unit. Although by now I'm well rehearsed to use both hands to keep it in place, the jet keeps popping off and I have hardly a cleaning where I don't need to clean myself and the room up thereafter.
Also: the jet intermittently starts jerking around, or up and down, like a sledgehammer ... jerking around on your gums, even making them bleed. The solution to that is to turn the unit off and start over.
Then the on / off switch has a problem: the lightest touch turns it on or off, such that if you are cleaning, you might inadvertently turn it off or if you are done and just drying it off you might inadvertenly turn it on and once again spray everything.
I'm going to order right now a different product.

Product Review: Do not waste your money on Waterpik (if you have a full set of teeth).
Summary: 1 Stars

I should have read the reviews first. The battery will not charge or hold the charge after a year. The reservoir is too small, you can not complete a full clean unless you refill the reservoir five to six times*.
Stay away from Waterpik. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
The sales material (and the warranty include with the product) promised that it could be returned within 30 days to Waterpik. I called them, and they told me to return it to the place where purchased. Here they told me that I could not return it if used.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON WATERPIK. Find a reliable brand.

* On second thought, the small reservoir may be sufficient for some folks. That is if they only have a couple of teeth left.
