Product Reviews of Waterpik Ultra Water FlosserProduct Review: A great product for a great smile Summary: 5 Stars
I owned a Water Pik years ago when I had TMJ surgery and had to have all of my teeth capped or crowned. I later lost it or misplaced it on one of many distant journeys. Years later I began to have all sorts of problems with my teeth involving the spaces between them. Fortunately I remembered the advice of my dentist many years ago and ordered the new Waterpik W-100 Ultra Dental Water Jet. What a revelelation! Now I don't worry about what's hiding between my teeth. I just use my Pik 3 times day. It's great and I advise anyone who has extensive and expensive dental work invest in one now.
Product Review: A great tool for healthy teeth and gums Summary: 5 Stars
Upon request of my dentist, I purchased a Waterpik. I simply love the device. It is easier than flossing and leaves your mouth feeling cleaner. When I first started using it, I had to use a lower pressure setting. Now that my gums are a bit tougher, I use it at the 60-70% setting and it really does the trick. You can feel the stream of water hitting your tongue after it goes through your teeth.
Product Review: A great upgrade over the cordless variant, more powerful too! Summary: 5 Stars
I am not ashamed to admit that I need to take better care of my teeth. While I brush and use mouthwash frequently, I hate hate HATE to floss, it just doesn't sit right with me. Of course, this results in my gums stinging a fair amount and the dis-approving lectures from my dentist everytime I go for a cleaning/exam.
After one of those visits, the hygenist he had there recommended a water pik if I didn't like flossing, she mentioned they work just as well as flossing and they're less of a hassle as well.
Well lo and behold there was credence behind her words. I initially used the cordless version of the Waterpik and while it did do an admirable job of cleaning, the small reservoir and the pump's dislike of adding mouthwash/rinses to the chamber was a source of quite a bit of frustration on my part. It ended up futzing out after about half a year.
I decided to upgrade to this version since it had the larger reservoir and the extra tips. I also didn't mind that it wasn't cordless, my countertop is more than adequate to hold it next to my electric toothbrush. I should note however that the connector hose is rather stiff and doesn't have a very long reach. Extend it carefully as it doesn't like to bend very much.
I've been using this puppy every evening for the past month or so and I notice a marked improvement in my gum-line. They're stinging almost not at all and the initial bleeding has stopped as well. I found that adding mouthwash directly to the water does a great job of cleaning out the gunk that's accumulated between my gums and certainly leaves them feeling clean and pink.
I should advise that after about level 7 in the pressure dial (it goes up to 10), it really starts to shoot pretty darn hard. Even after using it for a while at level 7, when I switched to level 9, the pressure significantly increased to the point my gums started bleeding again and got quite sore after a few sessions. They've subsided since then, but it should be noted above level 7, it feels like you're using a pressure washer on your teeth, so increase the pressure gradually so you don't hurt your gums in the process.
All in all, a fantastic product. I'd say the only downside is that the pumping mechanism is rather loud, but so was the cordless version, so I guess it's the nature of the pump that generates the noise, but it should be noted nonetheless.
Product Review: A helpful product for your dental care needs Summary: 4 Stars
I'm having dental issues and thought this might help with a more thorough cleaning. It does just that. It's more thorough then flossing alone and works great in combination with brushing and flossing. Takes a bit getting use to (and you might end up with a few squirts to the face) but well worth the time, effort and price.
Product Review: A lifesaver if you have braces!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I am 48 and just got braces. I was so frustrated trying to get the food out of my brackets and wires...no matter how well I brush and floss, the food just seems to want to work its way into all those metal nooks and crannies. Then I got the waterpik. I still brush and floss but the waterpik gets every little bit of food out. There is quite a bit of satisfaction to seeing food particles wash away into the sink...I mean this is stuff that would otherwise would still be on my teeth causing plaque and cavities!!!! I love the waterpik ultra! Don't bother with the cordless unit though...that was my first purchase and I ended up returning it. You get much better and consistent water pressure with the plug in unit and it is way more dependable than the cordless, which pretty much died after about a week. I would highly recommend the Waterpik ultra to anyone, whether or not they have braces, but especially if they wear braces!!!
