Just bought these myself to replace a set of old, cheap electromagnetic clippers - and the difference is night and day. These are much more solid, much more powerful, and much quicker to do their job than the others.
This is the same mechanism in Wahl's other home-grade clippers - a traditional rotating electric motor driving the shears by gears and levers - NOT a simple oscillating magnetic field coil coaxing a plastic arm back and forth as the A/C current reverses at 60Hz. You can't stop these blades without stalling a rotating motor - which means even the thickest hair is going to be cut easily - I suspect it would go through fine copper wire just as well (although that won't improve your blades' condition). That wasn't the case toward the end of my cheaper model's life.
These are the least expensive motor driven clippers I've found anywhere, and so far they are great value for money. My package actually claims to be made in the USA, so bonus for those who are making an effort to bolster domestic products.
These are not top-of-the-line commercial hair cutting equipment, but considering that they cost less than 2 cheap gentlemen's haircuts, I think you can find very little to complain about with this set of clippers.

I've been cutting my husband's bristle-brush hair and my son's thick-but-flat hair for 9 years, and we have tried at least 6 different clippers from other companies. This is our first Wahl and the only hair cutter that has fulfilled all of our criteria, including lots of power, guards up to 1" long and self-sharpening blades. Less powerful cutters take twice as long to cut thick hair, and rechargeable ones run out of steam too quickly. The blade guard, color-coded system and ear/eyebrow guides are added bonuses that we haven't seen with other systems. It's great to buy an American-made product again that upholds high standards of quality and price.Product Review: excellent and worth its value

I have tried many 'budget' clippers in the past, so it is great to have found a really good clipper for a good price. I would advise anyone who cuts kids hair (or your husband's hair) to buy this clipper--it works like a professional machine.Product Review: its used!!!

ok 1st of all when i opened the box i noticed there was still hair on the clippers!! and im missing 1 of the attachments. I had 2 clean it and everything before I used it (like Duhh!) besides that its works fine still i shouldn't have 2 pay full price for something that iz used....
