Product Reviews of Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler

Product Review: Compact and convenient product
Summary: 5 Stars

I am very satisfied with this product. It is very easy to use and yet small enough to carry wherever you go.

Product Review: Confused on the input voltage
Summary: 3 Stars

The product description says it can be used with 110-240 V input power supply. But what is written on the product which I received is 110V. I am confused whether this can be used with an input 220V/50Hz power supply.

Product Review: Convenient and relatively safe steam inhalation therapy
Summary: 4 Stars

Before I got this personal steam inhaler, I was boiling water in a pot and trying to breathe that steam: That steam was way too hot and I lose steam after about five minutes. This is a convenient way to breathe steam for what may ail you. I add about ten drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) which I think is like using GSE nasal spray, only the steam should reach higher into my nasal passages. In less than five minutes after turning the switch on, steam begins coming out. Even though the water in the reservoir is boiling (212ºF) the steam temperature is about 130ºF which gets the job done without being too hot. My face can comfortably stay over the inhaler for fifteen minutes if I want. The reservoir holds enough water to last about 20 - 25 minutes before boiling dry.

When I finished using the steam inhaler, I tried carefully pouring out the remaining water in the reservoir. Imagine my surprise when some of the water ended up inside the base! Okay, so I shook out as much water as I could. Then I took the bottom off the base to really dry things out. That's when I noticed that the three screws holding the base cover were T15 Torx screws. Fortunately, I have one. I dried out the inside of the base and put it back together. There's a plastic washer to keep the water in the reservoir and out of the base that doesn't seem to work well. To dry this thing in the future, it looks like I'll be either boiling this thing close to dry or using a cloth towel to wick the water out.

The power cord is just shy of 6' long which is about a convenient length to reach an outlet with out using an extension cord.

PROS:
A convenient and relatively safe way to have steam inhalation therapy.

The power cord is a convenient length so you don't need to be really close to a power outlet.

CONS:
Water can leak into the base when pouring out the remaining water in the reservoir.

If you need to remove the bottom cover like I did to dry the interior of the base, try a T15 Torx screwdriver.

Product Review: Disappointed in Amazon again
Summary: 3 Stars

This is the 2nd time I have ordered from Amazon & my 2nd disappointment. Maybe it's just the brand, but it looked like it was used. There are actually pieces of something in or on the plastic, that don't seem to come off. It also smells like my chemistry lab at school, kind of gross. I wish it was a tad bit bigger.

Product Review: EXCELLENT
Summary: 5 Stars

THIS PRODUCT PROVIDED EVERYTHING THAT THE PRODUCT PROMISED. I WAS EXTREMELY PLEASED. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE.
