Product Reviews of Vicks Personal Steam InhalerProduct Review: Worked well Summary: 4 Stars
My husband used this to help moisten his throat from excess coughing. Better than putting head over boiling water on stove! Small footprint allowed it to be placed on end table w/lamp & phone.
Product Review: Works GREAT! Summary: 5 Stars
Great little health accessory that serves its purpose well. Helps clear out congestion and keep my sinus moist.

Works as advertised. Small, easy to use, lots of steam. Does a terrific job.
Product Review: Works well to clear stuffy sinuses Summary: 5 Stars
I suffer from year round allergies. In addition to medication, I regularly use a neti pot which helps to clear my sinuses. However, with winter in full blast, I needed more than just a neti pot to soothe my dry and stuffy sinuses. I knew that it was time to pull my Vicks Personal Steam Inhaler from the closet shelf.
This machine is easy to use but be warned that the steam it produces is VERY hot. Here are my suggestions for using this machine:
Place the steamer on a flat stable surface.
Fill the base with water, turn on the machine and let the water fully heat.
Slide the lever all the way to the right to allow for the greatest volume of steam.
Place a towel over your head. A clean kitchen towel works well for this.
Keep the towel over your head and place your face a few inches above the clear plastic hood. Because of the temperature of the steam, it is very important that you do not rest your face directly on the clear plastic hood
Let the towel drape over your head and over the plastic hood. This helps creates a tent to hold in the steam.
After using the steamer, rinse your face with cool water to close the blood vessels in your face.
I find that adding a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil directly onto the little inhalant disks (optional) really helps to clear my sinuses. Please note that the steam will cause your nose to run (this is what you want) so make sure that you keep your tissues handy.
Caution: Because of the heat of the steam, I would not recommend this product for use by children.
Product Review: better choices for me ... Summary: 3 Stars
i bought this because i have chronic dry nose / sinuses.
first, you can easily burn yourself with this thing. when it is warmed up, putting your face all the way onto it *will* burn you. scalding your nostrils is no joke. it needs to have a longer stem portion or something. i'm surprised they aren't getting sued.
other than that, it works, but there are better options, for me at least. a small ultrasonic humidifier is about the same price and produces more, denser vapor that is easier to inhale as it is cool. it also holds more water and can be used generally as a humidifier for a room, where this one cannot as it holds only enough water for 10 minutes or so and it must be watched closely to ensure it hasn't run dry. it won't automatically shut off it just sits there cooking itself.
