Customer Review: Does what it's supposed to do

I purchased this thermometer to (of course) track my temperature throughout my cycle and see when I am ovulating. The first thermometer I received from Amazon didn't turn on at all. I replaced the battery (ridiculous since it was brand new, but I tried it anyway). It turned on, but would not do take my temperature. I called the company and they said the error I was getting signified a low battery--but of course I had just changed it. The woman on the phone did make a point of telling me that this thermometer is designed for women--apparently my voice is not feminine enough--but I pointed out that since it is oral, it should work no matter your gender. Anyway I sent it back to Amazon. They immediately sent out a replacement and I received it the next day. And they paid the return shipping on the broken one. Amazon's customer service could not have been better!
The new thermometer I received works just as advertised.
1. It beeps when you turn it on, you wait a couple of seconds and then start taking your temperature. It usually takes about 45-60 seconds and then it beeps again to tell you it's done.
2. It measures to a 100th of a degree, so for example it will tell you your temperature is 98.68 instead of just 98.6.
3. After it has been turned off, you can turn it back on and keep pressing the button for 10 seconds and it will show you your last recorded temperature, so it does have a memory. That seems to be one thing that people keep complaining about--just read the directions, it does have a memory!
It is not backlit, so you do have to use a light to read the temperature--I just use the light from my cell phone, though, so I don't wake up my husband. This thermometer is much more accurate that others I have had. Overall, I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone wanting to check their BBT.

Fully featured digital thermometer with flex tipAs an aid in increasing the likelihood of becoming pregnant, the basal thermometer is indispensable. By taking her basal temperature every morning at the same time (basal conditions refer to having had a good night?s sleep, 12 hours after eating, no emotional disturbance, before exercise, and in normal room temperature), a woman can track slight fluctuations and determine when ovulation occurs. After keeping track for three months (charts are included), it becomes possible to predict the fertile days which occur just before ovulation. This thermometer features a flexible tip that can be used orally or rectally (once used rectally it should not be used orally), and features a soft-press on/off button on the end, a large digital display, and is accurate to within +/? 0.15 degrees Fahrenheit. A memory function allows comparison between the current and previous day?s reading. The thermometer beeps when the reading is finished, and shuts off automatically. Probe covers and a battery are included. Waterproof for easy cleaning with soap and water or rubbing alcohol, the thermometer measures 1 by 5-5/8 inches and stores in a protective case. --Ann Bieri
