This is a wonderful humidifier! It is noisy, but I like that white noise. Since using it, I can't sleep without it! I always have 2 filters on hand. I empty the tank every morning and let it dry out during the day. I alternate the filters so that I'm using a dry one each time I fill the tank before bed. I also use the cleaning cartridge at all times. I just bought another one to replace a *more expensive* one that shorted out in my daughter's room.
