The only reason why this product doesn't get 5 stars is because the backlight is not as bright as depicted on the website & packaging. Otherwise it appears to function correctly. I purchased this one specifically because it is able to provide a wide range of temperature readings. Veridian's products appear to be of good quality despite being made in China. I guess everything is made there these days.
As far as function...just follow the instructions & you should get an accurate and consistent reading each time. Last temperature memory, audible beep & switching F/C scales are useful. It provides an oral reading in about 20 seconds so be patient. Just remember that the old fashioned ones took about 1 minute or more. I prefer that it takes a slow and accurate reading anyways instead of a quick and erratic reading.
