I'm not quite sure what I was expecting, however had I paid full price for this item, I would have been annoyed. Luckily, I had a $20 coupon, so $30 seemed more reasonable for what it is worth. Seems to be working fine. It is easy to use and handy on the vanity. Unfortunately you cannot really tell if it is doing its job, but we are assuming it is as the brushes stay very clean.Product Review: Waste of Money

Bought this product here in Amazon a few months ago thinking that it can sanitize toothbrushes. Though there is no proven effect, I got enamored by the idea of UV light keeping the toothbrush heads clean. It was a pretty thing to be seen in the bathroom especially when the bluelight is on but it's not really as sturdy as compared to a regular toothbrush holder. The holding cups are difficult to clean and since it pools fluid from wet heads, I don't see how UV light can keep the heads sanitized. And since it is stored in the bathroom, it gets moist most of the time from the steam of the hot water. It was already broken after 3 months of use. It was really a waste of $45.Product Review: Waste of money

I can't scientifically prove this works, but, keeping in mind that barbers have been using ultaviolet light to sterilize tools they use for decades, and it's also used in the
food service industry.
I noticed one review where the reviewer mentioned that there were germs remaining
after being removed from the unit. That reviewer may not be aware of the fact that you
don't necessarilly have to wipe out the germs, just lower the count to the point that they can't colonize a host. Thereby giving you the result you want---illness are not passed on.
We've had this unit a year now, and we have not had any instances of a cold or fever producing illness lingering longer then the usual coarse for an illness.
This saves us having to throw out tooth brushes after an illness, and in fact allows us to keep brushing during and after the illness without worrying or wasting money.
My wifes a physician, and I'm an ER RN and we both love having this unit.
