The Uplift commode has ben a GODSENT for my mother. I purchased this item for her because she has severe kyphosis and cannot get from a sitting to a standing position without assistance. The uplift is able to give her that assistance she needs without the hands - on assist thus enhancing her independence. If I had not found this item, then we would have had to hire someone to be with her 24/7 which would have cost a fortune or she might have ended up in a nursing home. Now she is able to remain at home with other services in place and maintain her independence. Assembly of product is not bad. It took a little less than an hour with my brother's help. Once assembled, commode is very easy to use and gives a good push off (not too light and not too forceful).
