Product Reviews of Twinlab Ripped Fuel Increased Definition for Men and Women, 40 TabletsProduct Review: A Periodic Assessment Summary: 3 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I've been taking TwinLab Ripped Fuel Metabolic Accelerator for about ten days now, and I'm hoping to make my review somewhat of a periodic assessment that I will augment every so often.
To begin, it's difficult to determine the benefits so far. With less caffeine than a cup of coffee, it's awfully hard to determine if the boost of energy one gets is from the Ripped Fuel or... well... from the cup of coffee you just had. So I'll start by saying that the pill is easy to swallow -- it doesn't quite classify as a "horse pill," though it is big. I hate swallowing pills, but I truly don't have a hard time with this one.
I have noticed a little bit more of a tendency to "crash" a little bit in the afternoon, which is something I will continue to monitor as I continue to use this product. So please be patient, and I'd appreciate any comments you might have that would help me measure the progress with this supplement.
I've realized that it is quite difficult to periodically review anything! :^) I can tell you that I haven't really been able to judge this product based on the time that has passed since I received it. The only thing I've really noticed -- and I've had to look closely -- is that my hands seem to shake a little a while after taking it. This could be anything, however... I do drink coffee as well.
Perhaps the bottom line is this: I don't lift weights anymore. I am an office guy. My wife and I have our first kid on the way, and our workouts are based on doing laundry, cleaning the house, and trying to get everything in order for the arrival of the baby. The most helpful I can be is to tell you that for many of us, this product is like buying an article of clothing that we're never going to wear. So if you're like me... this might be the best product of all time, but it's not for us. If you're someone who buys the stationary bike and actually uses it... or the home gym, or the gym membership, then Ripped Fuel might be for you. But don't get it if you're not committed.
Product Review: A Sugar-Free Substitute for Red Bull Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Twin Labs has had a long history with Ripped Fuel. I remember a version prior to 2003 that could justifiably state that it could help you lose weight and help increase your energy levels. Then ephedra was banned.... Since the banning of ephedra all of the supplement makers have searched for the next big thing. Twin Labs Ripped Fuel 5X may be the closest thing to a true thermogenic supplement since the banning of ephedra. That isn't to say that it is close to being as effective.
Each tablet of Ripped Fuel 5x contains 99mg of caffeine, which is almost exactly the same as one can of Red Bull. In fact, that is what I compare the Ripped Fuel to... a sugar free version Red Bull. While Red Bull contains vitamins and Taurine, Ripped Fuel 5x contains its own blend of vitamins and supplements.
My experience with Ripped Fuel 5x is mixed. I did find it a nice caffeine substitute in the morning, but over the 2 weeks of use I fought a little stomach discomfort. It is impossible to say if Ripped Fuel irritated my stomach or if will continue to do so. I will say that I was often thirsty (which could explain why some notice and immediate weight loss), but did not notice any of my clothes fitting any looser.
My final opinion -makes a nice low cost substitute for Red Bull, but it is claim to help you lose substantial amounts of body fat is probably a reach. If I see a change I will be sure to update the review.
Product Review: A good 'pep' pill Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
TwinLab's "Ripped Fuel 5X" is a decent little diet/energy pill that sets out to provide everything you'd expect from such a product and for the most part, in my opinion, achieves the desired effect in most instances.
+Energy Booster: kept me well fueled throughout a 2 hour session of full court hoops.
+Weight Loss: Time will tell, but the desired energy boost that it provides will ensure a greater intensity throughout your workouts.
+Appetite Suppressant: Does curb appetite to a degree but their are more effective products for such purposes.
For those in need of such effects it'd be hard to argue against giving this product a try. Ripped Fuel 5X is also convenient in its delivery with a recommended dosage of 2 pills per day. Other such products will oftentimes recommend doses of anywhere from 6 - 12 pills per day. Currently at Amazon's discounted price ($16-17 range) its well worth a purchase in comparison to paying the full MSRP at your local GNC Store.
Product Review: Check With Your Doctor - Mixed Review Summary: 3 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Friends at my gym swear by "Ripped Fuel", but my personal experience has been mixed. I don't need to lose weight and found that it made me feel jittery even when taking one pill a day. There is enough caffeine in it for the manufacturer to suggest you limit other caffeine intake. But there is so much good stuff in it; I had to do some research on the major ingredients. Below is what I discovered and everything sounds healthy and productive for losing weight in a healthy manner. I hope it is helpful.
Thiamine: Plays an important role in helping the body metabolize carbohydrates and fat to produce energy. It is essential for normal growth and development and helps to maintain proper functioning of the heart and the nervous and digestive systems. Thiamine is water-soluble and cannot be stored in the body; however, once absorbed, the vitamin is concentrated in muscle tissue.
Niacin: When taken in large doses, blocks the breakdown of fats in adipose tissue, thus altering blood lipid levels. Niacin is used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia because it reduces very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), a precursor of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or "bad" cholesterol.
Pyridoxine: Assists in the balancing of sodium and potassium as well as promoting red blood cell production. It is linked to cardiovascular health by decreasing the formation of homocysteine. It has been suggested that Pyridoxine might help children with learning difficulties, and may also prevent dandruff, eczema, and psoriasis. In addition, pyridoxine can help balance hormonal changes in women and aid in immune system. Lack of pyridoxine may cause anemia, nerve damage, seizures, skin problems, and sores in the mouth.
B-12: 833% is plenty.
Calcium: Good for bone structure in the body.
Chromium picolinate: Some commercial organizations promote chromium picolinate as an aid to body development for athletes and as a means of losing weight.
Cayenne: Is a medicinal and nutritional herb. It is a very high source of Vitamins A and C, has the complete B complexes, and is very rich in organic calcium and potassium, which is one of the reasons it is good for the heart.
Rhodiola rosea: Is effective for improving mood and alleviating depression. Russian research shows that it improves both physical and mental performance, reduces fatigue, and prevents high-altitude sickness. Rhodiola rosea should be taken early in the day because it can interfere with sleep. If a user becomes overly activated, jittery or agitated, dosage should be decreased.
Bottom line is take with care and ask your physician about any supplements.
Product Review: Didn't seem to do anything Summary: 2 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have used other TwinLab products in the past and have seen some results, so I was excited when I had the chance to do a test with the Ripped Fuel 5x product. The good news about this supplement is that it is only a twice a day product (to be taken with meals) and it didn't make me jittery (like some other products do). Unfortunately, I didn't see any difference in either my weight or my BMI with this version of the TwinLab line.
This lack of results may be because the product is not effective or it could be because of other factors. The problem with reviewing a product like this is that it needs to be taken consistently and in conjunction with a good diet and exercise program. Therefore, I do not know if the fact that I had a cold for much of my test (which had nothing to do with the product) had an impact on the results because it affected my diet/exercise routine.
Since I have effectively used another TwinLab product in the past (I can't recall the exact version), I do have a level of trust in them as a manufacturer. However, I can only review/report on the results that I had and the results were that I didn't have any.
