We do have 8 indoor pets and one got away by tearing the screen in our lanai, returning covered with fleas. Luckily 90% of the living area of our home has hard wood flooring with the exception of one bedroom (carpeted). The Vet. Prescribed Frontline® Plus and suggesting the use of a box of "20 mule team" Borax, for the carpeted area & everyone's bedding. We are flea less in less than a week. I also recommend this product for your washing machine, dishwasher and sinks plus many other uses.
Product Review: Use in combination with "cheap" detergents for great results

Detergents have gotten way too expensive so I buy decent enviro-friendly cheap stuff and toss in the Borax - which is about $4 a box. Laundry is clean and fresh-smelling. None of the nasty scents that America seems addicted to (What are people thinking with those nasty scented candles anyway? Try cleaning the house every now and then). Overall. it's one of those old-fashioned products that does what it claims at a reasonable cost. Can't beat that. Sadly, can't get it from Amazon directly - have to buy from the great retail Satan, Wal-Mart - and it is dead cheap. Hate myself but in these tight times, Wall-Mart keeps costs down as does Amazon.Product Review: WOW!! Expensive -what's happened to this site?

Three cheers for good business, but price gouging isn't good business. I like this product a lot, but the "list price" is 2.5 times the avg I can get in most regular stores and the 'sale price' is still higher than the regular store price. Just Google the product under boraxProduct Review: Yay!

I have used Borax twice in my laundry so far. My whites were much brighter and everything felt clean without being stripped.
It is great to find something that seems to work as well as bleach and is not nearly as harsh.
I am always on the look out for chemical free products, although I still use detergents occasionally.
I recommend Borax for laundry and I am sure it cleans counters very well, although I have not tried it for anything else yet.
I have my new safe and natural-ish all purpose cleaner!

I used this stuff as a laundry booster in the hope that it would knock down the stench of my polyester t-shirts. To my surprise, it worked. After the first washing, my shirts smelled noticeably less than before. I increased the dosage with the next washing and my shirts emerged smelling almost like roses. It was beautiful. Henceforth, the Borax is going in the wash every time.
Additionally, I used it to treat my carpet for fleas and it appears to be working. Borax is good stuff.
