It took a couple of shaves to break it in, but it's hardly scratchy at all, and it's only lost maybe 5 bristles in three shaves, I'd expect it to stop pretty soon. Great lather, highly recommend to new shavers or someone looking for a cheap replacement or backup. It's a very good badger brush for the price, and I don't think a buyer would be disappointed with it. It lathers well, and seems durable.
However, the pure badger hair used on this brush is a little prickly, which becomes an annoyance after a while. The handle is quite small, so if you enjoy bowl lathering, prepare for things to get a little messy.
As an alternative, I would recommend an Omega boar brush, for less money. My Omega Pro 49- about $15 on Amazon- was softer than the Tweezerman from day one, and is only getting better, as the ends of boar bristles split with use, making the brush softer. Well broken in boar brushes become incredibly soft, and still have lots of backbone for face lathering.White Handled Omega Professional Boar Hair Shaving Brush
Maybe some day I'll get a really nice silvertip badger brush. Until then, the little Tweezerman will still be used occasionally, just not as often as the Omegas.

As some other have pointed, the brush does loose some bristles intially but it did stop after a while. The only things I did not like about the bursh -
The handle is very small. And the brush is very thick and holds up a lot of foam from getting to the face. Otherwise, it is a great brush for the price.

I don't know what's wrong with all the other people,s Reviews losing hair and it being to stiff ect. If your into shaving and have read the forms or simply the directions that came with brush, you would not have problems with loosing hair and it being stiff.
This is a wonderful brush close to the expensive $100 brushes.
This is what I recommend before using this brush
1. Take it in the shower or bath or sink and wash with shampoo let sit for awhile rub the shampoo into the brush real good. Then rinse and repeat with conditioner making sure you get the conditioner real good into the brush and let sit for about 5 minutes and rinse and repeat if you want. This will remove the smell that some people complain about and it will make brush real soft...
2. When done and after shaving do a complete rinse with warm water then cold water. Then shake all water out of brush and dry with a towel.
3rd and most important hang brush upside down or if you can't afford a stand then in a cup upside down or tilted.
You will or should not have any of the problems that people are complaining about. This is truly my go to brush. You will most likely lose a few hairs the first couple of times you use it but if you follow my directions it will be very little.
You can't go wrong with this one.
