Product Reviews of Tweezerman Men's Shaving BrushProduct Review: 3 Shaves Summary: 4 Stars
No "shedding" so far. Only brush I've ever tried, for $ I'm satisfied. Holds enough water to get a good lather going.
update:
@12 shaves lost first hair, but is holding up since. expecting to get at least 6-9 months out of the brush, with almost daily usage. time will tell.
Product Review: A Good Shaving Brush Summary: 5 Stars
I've used the same old $4 brush I brought at CVS for years. You would get a workout trying to whip up a lather. I brought this one, after reading the reviews. I was surprised first I had no trouble lathering up, and second, I forgot to shake the brush of excess water, and still got a decent lather. Before it was hit and miss if I had a drop too much or little of water, no lather, or soupy lather. I only used it once, and it's still too early to know if any of the hairs will start coming out. Normally I wouldn't give a product a 5 after one try, I wait months before I write a review to make sure. The brush made such a huge difference apparently. Normally the lather would disappear on my lower neck and I would have to put more on. Not this time. All that I mentioned, is why it rates a definite 5.
Product Review: A Good Shaving Brush Summary: 5 Stars
This was my first shaving brush. I ordered this on October of 2009. The brush is still working well. It has not lost too many bristles. It was honestly a little rough at first, but I used some hair conditioner to soften it up and have been happy with it ever since. Should my current one ever die out, I will gladly order a Tweezerman again.
Product Review: A Great Little Brush Summary: 5 Stars
I originally bought this brush for my son, with hopes of getting him interested in wet shaving. It has become part of my brush assortment (7). This is the least expensive brush I own and does a GREAT job whether used in bowl (scuttle) lathering or face lathering. The bristles are soft on the face yet firm with a bit of backbone. It is an all around low cost work horse of a brush. The fit and finish on mine is "fairly poor". It had one crack in it when it arrived and has developed another crack since, both go into the handle from the ferrule area. Additionally the manufacturer left the base of the handle in a rough sawn condition and simply varnished over it without sanding it out. I've often thought that I probably own the ugliest Tweezerman out there... I could of easily returned it to Amazon but I kept it anyway. Glad for it, because I value this little beasty!! I take it when traveling and do simple face lathering shaves with it using shaving cream (Proraso or Speick). Works great. If it came up lost, I wouldn't loose sleep over it. I would certainly buy another Tweezerman to replace it. It's a great little brush for under 14 bucks! Look elsewhere if you want to purchase "eye candy" or a brush that might give you "high end" product self-satisfaction or bragging rights. This little guy is simply GREAT FOR WHAT IT IS... so I still gave it 5 stars... even though mine is kind of an ugly duck.
Product Review: A good value for the money, although it does shed at first. Summary: 2 Stars
EDIT: Okay, after a few more weeks of daily use, the shedding has almost entirely stopped. It lost one bristle this morning, but I had several "shed free" days in a row. The brush truly does work very well, a world of difference from the boar brush I previously used. At this price point, I must admit that it's an excellent value. I'd bump this review up a star, if I could.
------
This brush is reasonably soft, holds water well, and generates great lather. However, each time I use it, 8-10 bristles get deposited on my face! They clog the razor, and I'm constantly picking them off my face and sink. I'd hoped it would be fine after all the loose hairs fell out, but I've been using it daily for two weeks now, and the shedding gets a little worse each day.
If something seems unusually inexpensive, it's usually for a reason. I'm shopping for a new brush, and I won't go cheap this time.
