I spent a year with achilles pain in one foot/leg/heel. FInally an MRI diagnosed it as simple achilles tendinosis. Even with all the stretching and resting and icing the achilles would not heal. Heel cups had been suggested but not very strongly by my podiatrist. I finally decided to give them a try. I figured with the price being what it was these would probably not do anything...When they arrived, great big hunks of green plastic, i was less impressed. This all changed when I started to walk, and the Run in them. My achilles pain is pretty much gone now, and I am in training again for a Marathon. Despite the dorky appearance, these things have really improved my overall happiness and health. I'm ordering a second pair, for my work and dog walking shoes!
The only problem I have had is a minor one and that is that the edges of the cups sometimes fold over or rub my feet when I am running and I get small blisters on my upper heels, not at all painful and not really a big deal, unless you are a foot/heel model.
