Great price and I can see inside the ear. Instuctions include 4 pictures of the inside of the ear like a normal, infected, perforated and ear tube pictures. I didn't relize my son had a ear infection, because there wasn't redness. The doctor said it was because the drum wasn't clear, it was white from the pus. Great tool, I just need more experience in looking at the ear drum! Can't wait to practice and learn more!Product Review: Essential equipment for parents

We have three young children and one of them is prone to ear infections. The symptoms are sneaky and running to the doctor every time we suspect an infection just isn't practical. For a few years, we had a cheapo drugstore otoscope. It was cheap to begin with and never worked all that well. However, it did help us diagnose a few ear infections.
The Dr. Mom Otoscope is a HUGE leap forward. It is very bright and very clear. My only regret is that we didn't find this and buy it earlier!
I give this my highest recommendation.

I bought this item because our daughter had an ear canal blocked with a wax plug. After a visit to the doctor's office, we were sent home with oil drops to try to break up the plug. Without an otoscope, there was no way to determine if the oil drops were working. I ordered the Dr. Mom Otoscope from Amazon on Friday evening and it arrived on MONDAY with regular shipping! We were able to see in our daughter's ear so clearly. The wax plug eventually loosened and came out, but without this otoscope, we would have been clueless as to whether or not the oil drops were doing their job. Without the otoscope, we would have had to return to the doctor's office for follow up visits. With the Dr. Mom Otoscope, we didn't have to return for another visit (and co-pay) while still having the confidence that her ear was clear and healed. I would recommend this product 100% to anyone considering a purchase.

Excellent ear scope for travel. Works as well as the big ones yet fits nicely into a purse or suitcase. It has a very bright light and what you see inside the ear is very clear. I am very impressed with this little otoscope. This is the second one I have purchased this time to give to my sister in law for use with her child who is very prone to ear infections. I myself am a pediatrician and found out about this otoscope when a patient brought one in with her child to have me help her with it's use. I have to admit when I first saw the otoscope I was not expecting too much but was totally blown away when I looked in her child's ear and realized I could see as clear if not clearer with it than I could with the very expensive professional model otoscope I was using in my office. The light is very bright with excellent magnification and optics provided by it's lens which gives you a very clear view of the tympanic membrane.
Granted I would not recommend an otoscope to every parent that comes in my office but for those I feel who will take the time and have the patience to learn to use one they can be a very helpful in monitoring the state of a child's ear health. I do not think you will find a better value in an otoscope when you consider functionality and price. Heather S. M.D.
