Product Review: A Must have for any parent with a child who has chronic ear infections.

The Dr. Mom L.E.D. Pocket Otoscope is a must have product if you are a parent of a child with chronic ear infections. I have a daughter who has had chronic ear infections her whole life. I checked my daughter's ears with the Dr. Mom otoscope a few days before leaving on vacation, to find that I could not see one her tubes and I also did not like the coloring of the ear drum. Her E.N.T was able to work us in before we left on a two week long vacation to the beach and a water park. It turned out that, her one tube had fallen out and the ear was already getting infected, without this product we would have been out of state when the pain in her ear would have been bad enough for her to complain; she would have been absolutely miserable on vacation, but since I was able to catch it early we were able to leave on vacation with ear drops and an antibiotic to treat the ear infection. It saved us from an expensive trip to an out of state doctor or ER for an ear infection and she was able to enjoy the vacation.
This is a wonderful and easy to use product. The L.E.D. light is very bright and it is small and compact easy to pack and travel with.

This is without doubt the best product I have ever purchased off the internet. It has provided me so much peace of mind with my child who suffers from ear infections caused by chronic allergies. It will tell you if the ears are simply filled with fluid bubbles or if there is evidence of redness which means bacteria are beginning to infect the ear. This is the third Dr Mom I have purchased. I bought one for myself some time ago then I purchased another as a gift for my sister and now I am purchasing again for a friend whose child also suffers frequent ear problems. This thing has been so darn useful to me I just can't wait to purchase for friends or family once I learn someone has an ear problem. I used to think the only way I could get my child's ear looked at was by going to the Doctor. It was actually my brother who is a pediatrician who lives in a distant city from me that recommend the otoscope. He said to me.....Girl, how do you think we learned as physicians to do ear exams in medical school? We practiced on each other. Nothing you can't figure out yourself simply by looking into ears."
He was absolutely right. Once you look into enough ears you begin to realize what looks normal then when something doesn't look right you know it.
He recommended this otoscope because he said he has not seen anything else in it's price range that even comes close to working as well as this one. He says it is comparable to the very expensive one he uses in his office as far as the clarity you see when looking at an eardrum.
The otoscope is also small and light weight which I like since it is easy to stick in my purse when we travel. It never seems to fail that every time we get on a plane my child begins pulling at the ears several days after we get to our destination. I don't know if it's the stress of traveling or due to pressure changes that causes this but I do know it is nice to be able to get a look to make sure it isn't due to the start of an infection.

I bought this since my daughter seems to be prone to ear infections. I find that the light is nice and bright. It's LED-based so that should lead to much longer battery life. It's very solid and comfortable to hold. And the included instruction sheet has some nice pictures of different types of ear drums to help you figure out what you are looking at. (Although, Wikipedia also has some great information to read on the topic.) My only complaint is that the outer edge of the plastic tips can cause some pain when inserted. The edges need to be more rounded to prevent that from happening.Product Review: BEST OTOSCOPE EVER!

This product arrived promptly and is so much better than I had anticipated. I used to have a big heavy one that was quite expensive and heavy as well. It stopped working; I didn't know where to have it repaired...then looking on the internet I saw this Dr Mom instrument with the lifetime guarantee. We have used it a lot and recommend it highly!
