Product Reviews of Thera Cane Instructional DVD

Product Review: Instructional DVD is very helpful
Summary: 4 Stars

I finally got around to viewing the DVD this morning. It's very helpful. I like to see the Thera Cane being used as opposed to just reading about it in the manual. It's not super slick, and they don't always cover using the tool on both sides of the body, but it's enough to know that the instructions are there, and I can pause the DVD to do the other side on my own if I feel the need to do so. My back and shoulders feel much better after my first session. The DVD is very reasonable priced, and well worth the $5.

Product Review: It was somewhat helpful
Summary: 3 Stars

I guess I would buy it again at $5.00, but I wouldn't spend much on this DVD. It was helpful in showing how each of the Thera-cane knobs could be used. But you only need to see it about once or twice. (The Thera-cane is fantastic, though.) If you really want to use the Thera-cane to its best advantage, buy the "Trigger Point Therapy Workbook" by Clair Davies, Amber Davies, and David G. Simons. That book and the Thera-cane have given unbelievable relief from many pain problems I had thought I would have to live with the rest of my life.

Product Review: Modern Medicine has become a greedy financial institution.
Summary: 5 Stars

Although not the most professionally produced video, it is simple and to the point. Anyone who has any kind of muscular, nerve or skeletal pain using some common sense and this "tool" can get significant results in a short period of time.

No doctor has EVER explained where my pain was or how to alleviate it (except with drugs or surgery). This video explained how this tool and a small amount of time every day can produce remarkable results.

Product Review: No Masseuse?
Summary: 4 Stars

...well, I'd rather have a masseuse in house and on-demand, but the Theracane is a great substitute. I had tried using tennis balls and rolling on them, but the Theracane is not only more effective, but easier to use.

I'm going to buy some for friends with the same age related neck aches.

Product Review: Only moderately helpful
Summary: 2 Stars

Frankly, this was not an especially helpful DVD and it should have been included with the product itself. Well, I say that even though I got a Body Back Buddy rather than a Theracane. But I thought -- correctly, I believe -- that the principles would be approximately the same. I think that the BBB has more helpful features and a better design than the Theracane. I have messed around with both and would recommend the BBB slightly over the Theracane, though I think that either will provide exceptional therapy not just for anyone who is dealing with chronic soft tissue pain, but for anyone who just wants to relieve tension.

The DVD is pretty poorly made and they work through the various uses of the Theracane or its equivalents (like the Body Back Buddy). But despite the very low production values and the poor presentation, you do get an idea of the proper way to use your therapy tool. I realized I was making a couple of mistakes and after adjusting things I got much better results. I also got a better idea of how to use a couple of the knobs on the BBB.

So, do I recommend this? I'm not sure. I learned a bit from it, but not a great deal. I suppose I don't recommend against buying it, but I'm not much of a fan of it either. I more strongly recommend one of the several excellent pressure point books that currently in print.
