Product Review: Hearing Device

Bought this product for my 91 year old Dad. He had used a similar product that was not rechargable, the batteries were expensive, and the batteries were too small for him to handle/see. The rechargable device took care of all these previous issues. This hearing device is not the same as a hearing aid, but is helping him to understand conversation better. The different size ear pieces help adjust to the individuals ear canal sizes; however, my Dad would have liked to have even a smaller one. The wire that goes over the ear is very, very flexible. Therefore, everytime he puts on his glasses, the ear piece moves causing the hearing device to become misplaced. This is the nagging flaw.Product Review: Hearing amplifier

I ordered this for my husband hoping he would wear it while watching TV as he has the volume so high that it distorts the speakers of the TV. I have to turn my hearing aids way down. However, when he tried it out it squealed and amplified the air conditioner over the TV. I need to work with him to see if he can learn to control it so it doesn't squeal and still amplify the TV when the air isn't running. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks! It would work for me since I don't sit near the air conditioner but he does.Product Review: Hooked again

I should have known better but once again I fell for the hype. This product did not work for me, Couldn't find an ear piece that worked for me, If I wanted to sit with my hand holding it tight to my ear, there is a slight improvement. 1. Amplifies every single thing - stealth mode filter does not work selectively as advertised. Like someone said earlier you can hear sound of your own breathing, wind, tap water and all white noise that interfere with hearing clarity. So usability is nil, once the novelty wears off.
2. Have given an extra star only because as a pure amplifier, the volume is pretty good.
3. Do not believe that TV can be ON in a non-disturbing volume, if you are wearing this - just does not work. There are bandpass amplifiers that do this reasonably well - but expensive ($100+)
4. If you notice the amount of positive 5 star ratings in the beginning, I feel that it is a targeted push to negate the effect of lower star ratings - but there is a possibility that I am mistaken. (Do refer to comments to this feedback, I do not wish to take off credit where credit is due, if it does help people with hearing levels lower than mine - I am an average hearer - 7/10)
Note Dec 2009: The average rating has now gone down - as opposed to a consistent 5 star rating through last year! This can imply a lot of things!
Product Review: I LIKE IT!

I have had this neat device for about 10 days & it performs as advertised. It amplifies (would underline that word if I knew how)TV & conversations within a room. I have not worn it in a restaurant or at a party, having been cautioned by the ads that the amplification is too loud & unable to filter out unwanted noises in those situations. That same criticism is spoken by many of my friends who have 2,3,& 4 thousand dollar hearing aids. The best part of using this device is the prompt, courteous response I received when I contacted the manufacturer with what I feared was a "dumb question".
