Product Reviews of The Journey to Wild Divine Biofeedback Software & Hardware for PC & Mac: The Passage

Product Review: Don't waste your money.
Summary: 1 Stars

I tried this software at the NYC Book Expo, & while it may be useful as a focusing program, the "effects" are the same whether one is happy, sad, focused, experienced, or a beginner. I tested the juggling and stairway segments, & the results were the same no matter what I thought about or tried. (I even tried reading several pages of my book while hooked up to the "biofeedback sensors" & still managed to keep my balls in the air!) You don't need to spend this much money on a relaxation/meditation program. Similarly topical audio cassettes can have the same effect--for a much smaller investment.

Product Review: Excellent Product
Summary: 5 Stars

If you are trying to learn relaxation through biofeedback, this is the product to buy. Packaging, support, presentation, and hardware/software quality are the best that I have seen. No down side. It's not a game in the usual sense. More of a way to learn techniques in a quiet and amusing way.

There is room for a little mischief. Instead of allowing the balloons to flow smoothly, I tried busting a few. Type A personality shows through occasionally. I will be purchasing the next item in the series. I am learning to relax, at will, which will be helpful in my high-stress occupation. Good luck.

Product Review: Excellent way to learn basic mind-body control
Summary: 4 Stars

I was skeptical of this program at first, but had a chance to demo it for several days at a conference. It's compelling and fun to use. It's also accurate-- at one point I was focusing on relaxing and allowing some balloons to float slowly across the bottom of the screen. Someone came up behind me and startled me and the balloons jumped up to the top of the screen in time with my reaction. My only complaint is that parts of it are a little slow and talky. It's well worth the expense if you're interested in developing your mind/body communication, although probably not as valuable for someone who is already well into that.

Product Review: Fascinating!
Summary: 5 Stars

I wasn't sure what to expect, but really enjoyed "playing" with the Journey to Wild Divine. I learned a great deal about bio-feedback and had fun with the journey. This is not an action-adventure thrill ride, but a calming, flowing sail through the powers of your mind.

Product Review: Fell short of hype
Summary: 3 Stars

The package is beautiful, the bio feedback (Light Stone) could be useful if you get the expansion pack but the program itself is not ready for prime time.

One gets the feeling that their intentions were in the right place but they didn't have the technical skills to pull it off. While the pictures in the program are generally pleasant they are at least 1 if not 2 generations behind graphics found in any other game today. The game only plays in 600 x 800 resolution which on 17" or larger high res monitors looks low class and fuzzy. The pixals are so large that all movement on the screen is just slightly out of focus scenery. The same for all the backgrounds of mountains and waterfalls. The settings could have been beautiful but end up almost cartoon like.

The bio feedback which controls much of the game is not very sensitive to your real mood. You can mostly control it by either breathing slowly or rapidly and think whatever you want. There aren't any puzzles involved in the play and the movement is strangely slow for a game in low res graphics that is totally loaded on your hard drive. I guess they are trying to teach you to be calm inspite of the maddenly slowness of the game. You move by pointing a wand then the game pauses and starts to move (mostly slightly out of focus objects) then stops and you wait for the wand to reappear to start all over again. This game almost feels like it was a port from a pre pentium world.

I will agree on one area, that is kids under 12 will probably like it. So like the parents as it contains no violence or even moderate action. The music is standard new age and all the characters you meet seem to think that you are about 8 years old or at least that is how they talk so don't expect that the secrets involve anything intellectual only a lot of breath in to the count of seven and breath out to the count of seven. I guess that is all there is to do in Wild Divine.
