Product Reviews of The Clapper Plus Sound Activated On/Off Switch, 1 EachProduct Review: Great product. Summary: 4 Stars
I almost did not purchase after reading mixed reviews, but very pleased that I did. I have 15 foot ceilings and wanted to plug a neon light into an outlet very high up that did not have an on/off switch. This product is perfect as it has a remote to turn it on and off, no ladder needed. It is working great for me.
Product Review: I 'love' the Clapper Plus!! [do not overload watts] Summary: 5 Stars
I am a lamp person and am not crazy about [actually don't like] overhead lighting so this item I find is perfect for turning on my lamps! My friends and husband make fun saying this is an old peoples item [I think because of the past commercial with the clapping old lady]. I do not clap, I use the remote [they think this is cool but will never admit it]. I have 3 units and the remotes work on all of them. I wish they came with 2 remotes but 1 is sufficient and you can order extras by themselves. Actually, I cannot say enough nice things about this product. It's not for OLD people. It's for people who want to turn things on with a remote instead of fumbling for the on/off switch. [especially the items where the on/off switch is on the cord... what a pain. Not anymore :o) ]
Get yourself a unit and you will like it too. If not... send it to me... and I'll use it.. I'm serious. :o)
---------
VERY VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure you DO NOT overload the unit past the maximum watts. 250watts max for one side, 400 watts max for both sides. It says this ON the unit and in the booklet but they need to STRESS this in bold letters all over the place. Overloading it in anyway will make the fuse blow and it cannot be changed/fixed, you'll know this by the burnt fuse smell and the fear of potential fire (plus it no longer works) :o( . And this in turn will make your unit material for the garbage can. Thus having to learn a lesson and buy a new one and tell everyone you know about the importance of this. Hey, extra remote now. :o/
Product Review: Inconsistent Summary: 1 Stars
Shuts off or starts lights randomly. "freezes" so that clapping or the remote no longer activates or shuts off lights. having to constantly unplug it to reset the system.
Product Review: It does its job Summary: 4 Stars
I had to disconnect the clapper because the TV sound caused it to cycle, but the remote button works fine.
Product Review: It's okay. Summary: 3 Stars
The clapper is a nice gadget. It's great for being able to turn the lights on and off from the bed, when you don't want to get up and hit the switch. This unit, however, has been quite a pain. It took a lot of practice to get the clap timing just right to be able to successfully turn it on and off. The remote seems to need to have line of sight, and it rarely ever works. The unit does however turn itself on when the cats are playing near the reciever, or sometimes when the TV is on and it hears something, and even sometimes when we are just talking in the room. There is a sensitivty setting, but you need it sensitve enough to pick up your claps. Overall, it serves its purpose, it just takes some getting used to.
