I asked my husband to get this for me as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. I loved it - I usually stay up later than he but the bed lamp is on his side so I'd have to either get up and walk all the way around the bed or nudge him to go ahead and turn off the light. You can guess which way I usually chose - much to his dismay.
So the Clapper was great - while it worked. We had a few times that it seemed to freeze and we had to unplug it to re-set, but it was very infrequently. However, about 9 months into it, it seemed to have frozen. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and then it zapped and some smoke started coming out of it. I yelled for my husband and then ran to the back door and threw it into the yard (yes, I panicked).
Part of me wants to buy another, thinking maybe this one was just a dud. On the other hand, I'm afraid to buy another. I don't want to burn our house down.

This works either as a regular Clapper (you know, "clap on, clap off") or as a remote control switch. So, you can turn on up to two lights or appliances by pressing one of the two buttons on the remote control. It's a fairly sophisticated device, hence the hefty price tag. It has adjustable sensitivity if used as a clapper, and even has a vacation feature where it will turn on a light if a noise triggers it. The unit plugs into the wall outlet and up to two lamps or appliances plug into the unit. This is perfect for my older mom, so she does not need to lean out of the bed to shut her bedside lamp after reading. The remote works even with the unit BEHIND the bed - I worried at first that the signal would not reach the unit but there was no problem. I was so happy to find the Clapper Plus at Amazon after searching in all the local stores and being unable to locate one. I guess its an item that's only available around Christmas. Anyhow, it worked great, with clapping and the remote. My husband and I were very happy to use it because our bedroom is very large and it is very inconvenient to have to get out of bed to turn off the lightswitch or the lamp. After having the clapper for 33 days, it suddenly stopped working. All three of the lights stay on but the remote and clapping just don't seem to work. I can't send it back because I bought it more than 30 days ago, so I guess I'll be looking for something else to try... Don't waste your money!Product Review: Worthless

the lamp turns on and off unpredictably; sometimes it responds to a loud voice, a clanking garbage pail, laughter. Almost never responds to clap. Should be called the "keep them guessing." Even the remote, which comes with this deluxe model is unpredictable. You'd be much better off buying one of the inexpensive remote control switches also available on Amazon, but not expensively advertised on television. (I wound up replacing this with another product, after being "gas lighted" once too often by the Clapper) Someone should bring a Consumer Protection Act suit against this misleadingly advertised product.
Piece of junk. I want my money back.

This was perfect for what i was lookin for. My husband & I always had a laugh before bed about who was going to turn the light off. No you get up..i don't wanna & so on.This was the perfect solution>had a remote in case we didn;t wanna clap or couldn;t loud enough.No more arguin bout turn in off the lights:) & use one in the livin room too for when we first come home.The remote is awesome:)
