The clapper is okay. You need to practice carefully to get the correct timing of the claps to have it work. My daughter is still trying to get this correct, after having it for a few weeks. The remote does work more consistently. However it does solve the problem of having her turn off the lights while she is still in bed and finished reading for the night.
