It's as simple as it gets. Perfect for elderly or any individual with a motor-function-related handicap (or even for the occassionally vision-challenged).
Setup is a breeze and teaching the intended recipient to use the device is just as easy. This remote is to control a Vizio 32" LCD tv.
It would be nice to have a remote just like this which would control cable boxes, but I guess you can't have it all when it comes to electronics!

Seriously this product is outstanding. I ordered this from Amazon for $22.xx shipped. This remote was for my grandmother who was constantly resetting things on her tv with her remote that I would have to go over there and fix. This remote does more than solve that problem. The six buttons are all she needs. The controller is large and lights up. The thing she was the most excited about was that when the phone rings she can mute the TV (her old remote could do that, I just don't think she knew that). Anyway, for an elderly person this is close to the best 25 bucks you could spend on them. It will no doubt make you life and their life much easier.Product Review: Love this remote!

I've never written a review for a product before but after purchasing this remote for my 92 year old grandma this past Christmas I had to write about our success. First of all, the shipping was so fast! I ordered it the night of December 23rd, thinking it would be shipped after Christmas. It was shipped Christmas eve morning and I got it in the mail 4 days later, despite the blizzard the had everyone snowed in for days.
The remote itself is exactly as described. It's big, simple and works great. I was worried it wouldn't work with my grandma's older sony box tv. The first time we tried to program it we couldn't get it. But the second time we tried did the trick. Now my grandma is flipping through channels where before she would get stuck watching a certain channel not knowing how to change it with her complicated universal remote.
I asked the nursing home nurses if they had seen a remote like it before and they said they hadn't. I highly recommend it for the elderly!
Product Review: PERFECT for folks with limited or failing capacities

The answer to my mom's TV viewing problems. The dementia was getting worse and all those tiny buttons on her remote confused her. She deprogrammed the TV frequently. What a great relief to not get 4 phone calls a day complaining the TV did not work. Just remember to take the original remote home or they will hunt it down! She could never find her teeth or hairbush but she seemed to have ESP when looking for the remote.
