I had a bad case of poison oak and was told by the pharamacist to wash with the Tecnu. I was on hydrocortozone as well. I washed with the product and my case worsened and here I am 5 months later with skin damage, and still seeing a dermotologist. Be careful.Product Review: Fantastic product

I spend a lot of time in the woods and messing around areas that seem to have poison ivy. I'm very careful of noticing when/where I am and can easily identify poison ivy.
However, I still manage to get 2-4 outbreaks a year. Before I got this stuff, those outbreaks could be terrible. And even the "outdoor skin cleanser" that Tecnu also makes didn't do much to manage outbreaks once they started.
This stuff is absolute magic. Every person I've recommended it to has been amazed at the results.
No, it doesn't make the rash go away completely. And it does leave a bit of a residue that I prefer to wash away with normal soap. As other reviewers have pointed out, it works well and the "scrub" really does relieve the itching.
Since I started using this stuff, I've only needed steroids once in several years. Which is nothing short of amazing for me as I normally had to get on steroids twice a year in the past.
Great product, I'd pay twice the price if I had to.

I never heard of this product but was desperate to stop my 6yr old from scratching and spreading the rash. It stops the itching longer than the doctor prescribed oral medication. I have even seen a decrease in redness of the affected area.Product Review: Great off-the-shelf treatment

This product is a great alternative to scratching. I'm not sure how much it actually helps in stopping itch altogether, but it's a wonderful prep for another treatment, such as Ivarest. I use this as the first step of treatment of a confirmed outbreak, not as a preventative cleansing. For that I use regular Technu. When I know I've been infected, I use this product to thorougly scrub the infected area, which cleans away all the offending oils. The abrasive texture also gives a nice, scratching relief, which help in avoiding scratching with your fingers. After the scrubbing I immediately start treatment with Ivarest.
For me, this is an essential ingredient in treatment of a real outbreak.

I get poison oak rash often from working in my yard (even with poison oak block). I bought Tecnu Extreme after I got the rash and used it twice daily as directed. After 4 days, my rash was nearly gone, itching and all. I am making sure I do not run out of this great stuff. I wish Tecnu would come up with a poison oak block.
