I live in Grass Valley, California. If there is a place with more poison ivy or oak I'd be stunned. I have 12 acres and poison oak is EVERYWHERE. My sister gave me a sample of Tecnu Extreme that she got at a trade show--she's a nurse. This stuff is, hands-down, the best poison oak/ivy product I've ever come across. I used to have to get steroid shots just to try and live a normal existence when I'd get the rash. The itching would still be horrible.
However, Tecnu Extreme has helped me so much I sincerely have not had to get a steroid shot in about 5 months. If I'm diligent and can use it on my hands and arms--even before I get in my truck and leave my property--I can really do well in avoiding the rash. Then when I get in the shower at home I do a complete scrub. It's incredible.
Oh, and when I read that 1 star review all I could think was, "this must be a competitor who wrote that." So, I strongly urge you not to pay any attention to it. The review that recommended Cortaid is the same thing.
I am in poison oak at least once a week on average and I've suffered for 12 years. You need this stuff if you've got a rash.
