Product Reviews of Taylor #8120 Digital Luggage Scale

Product Review: very pleased
Summary: 5 Stars

This unit works very well. The alert tone that tells when the weight has registered is very hard to hear. Nice to know that you will have no surprizes when you check your luggage.

Product Review: Piece of junk!
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this to replace our old analog luggage scale. It has a cracked plastic screen over the dial, and although it still works beautifully, I thought it might go belly-up at some inopportune moment, so bought this Taylor digital one to hold in reserve. This piece of junk worked exactly once, and even then, it wasn't accurate when compared with the analog scale's reading, showing a difference of several lbs.! And when checking the bag against the airline's measurement, sure enough, it was the old analog scale that was right and this Taylor digital that was way off. I should say that our old analog scale has always been spot-on when compared to various airlines' scales at check-in. I've even had the analog scale show just a hair's width lower than 50 lbs., held my breath hoping it really was under 50, and then when the airline weighed the bag, it weighed 49.9 lbs! Optimistically, I tried to use this Taylor scale for the next trip, thinking that perhaps the first time I had somehow lifted the bags improperly (there are rather complex directions on how to lift the bag JUST SO). Wouldn't you know it, this time it didn't work at all! It registers weight, but it's all over the map, showing wildly different readings for the same piece of luggage. Of course, all the paperwork is long gone, so I guess we're stuck with this considerably less that perfect item. I'm hanging onto it for now, in hope that it may mysteriously start to work accurately the next time I try to use it. My advice: don't buy it unless you like to gamble.

Product Review: Excellent
Summary: 5 Stars

Very lightweight to take along when traveling. Also, very accurate and easy to use. With the current trend of airlines to nitpick and nickle-and-dime passengers for more and more money, a good scale in a necessity when traveling in the current airline climate.

Product Review: Luggage scale works
Summary: 5 Stars

This scale is easier than standing on a bathroom scale to determine the weight of luggage. With charges for checked bags being high, it's a great way to determine if you need to lighten up the load.

Product Review: Nice Device
Summary: 5 Stars

I guess the most important aspect of a scale is whether or not it weighs something accurately. I used this device for the first time and weighed the bags at 48 pounds. The KLM scales at O'Hare airport measured them within 1/2 pound of my reading. Much easier than trying to weigh my boxes on a bathroom scale or running them over to the Post Office to use their scale.
Fairly easy to use and feels sturdy enough.
