Product Reviews of Taylor 5596W Body Fat and Body Water Scale with Daily Caloric referenceProduct Review: Horrible Scale! Summary: 1 Stars
This is the most horrible scale that I have ever purchased. I weigh around 100 lbs, yet it tells me that I weigh from 6 (yes six!) to 115 lbs. Every time I step on this scale, even within minutes, it gives me a different reading. Many many calls to the manufacturer have gone answered. I left many messages but no one ever called back. I have wasted many batteries on this! I would never suggest this to anyone.
Product Review: Inaccurate Weight, Inaccurate Body Fat, What's Left? Summary: 1 Stars
Out of the box, this scale is incredibly hard to use. Not only is setting it up a pain but so is recalling old settings. My roommate and I still got confused on how exactly to work the thing.
My main issue with this scale is that even the weight portion is inaccurate. If your weight fluctuates slightly throughout the day, the scale won't pick up on it. It will always try to give you the last weight you recorded, sacrificing accuracy for precision. The only way to force it to give you an accurate reading is to exceed 1.5 pounds since your last weighing. If you are under this limit, you have to hold something to push yourself over the 1.5 pound threshold, get a new reading, and then weigh yourself again without holding the object. This could be pretty discouraging for those on diets, so I'd recommend against it if you have any interest in weighing yourself regularly.
The body fat is also not very accurate, but that is the case with all body fat scales I've used.
Other than the price, there is nothing good about this scale. My recommendation is to go with a Tanita Body Fat scale, which is what I ended up replacing this one with. The extra money is worth it for a scale that is easy to use and actually works like a scale should.
Product Review: Loving it so far Summary: 5 Stars
instructions were easy to understand and go by.
but a heads up though, i first tried to use this on carpet and would get errors from not being able to read me right so use this on any surface but carpet.
i like that it tells me my water weight. ive always thought i was retaining water weight and low and behold im just in within range.
i also like how it tells me my current weight and how many calories i need to consume to maintain it. it also tells me my ideal weight and how many calories i should consume to maintain it. but wait, theres more! (sorry im being corny) the ideal weight that it gives me is actually IDEAL. im 5ft2, 5ft3 on good days. i have big bones and im built thick. By US standards i should naturally be between 100-120 max. HA! at the peak of my physical fitness i was 144. only way i could get my weight that low is if i do drugs or amputate a body part. This machine sends electrical signals through your body (beware pace maker folks) and it determines how much fat you have by how much resistance it goes through (not sure but thats how i understood it, best to look it up). i think it somehow determines your ideal weight by doing that too. im just happy something told me that i ideally i shouldnt look like a toothpick. of course ive been preaching that all my life so its nice to have a second opinion.
this is a must have buy for health nuts, workout folks, or just plain janes. its nice to know what your water weight and body fat is!! oh i almost forgot. when setting up your profile it just doesnt have the "athletic" or "non-athletic" it has in betweensies. so if your like kind of sort of but not really working out you could set it to 2 instead of....i havent worked out in years, i just lift my soda can or myself out the chair which would be setting 1. so thats cool too!
Product Review: My weigh in ... Summary: 4 Stars
Good price, looks nice, works best as a scale. The other functions are hard to use.
Product Review: NICE SCALE Summary: 4 Stars
This is really more than what I needed, but at the time the price was good. I could have done with just a simple weight display. I found this one too much trouble to get back to my profile setup. If your're looking just to monitor weight loss, get a different model.
