TarBars do NOT block all of the tar and nicotine, but at least they block two thirds. You do sacrifice some taste and I've found them to be good for only 2 or 3 cigarettes each. After that, the filter gets so full of tar that it becomes difficult to draw. Also, the design somehow allows quite a bit of air in the draw and I often get a dry throat and the hiccups. I have greatly reduced the amount of my nicotine addiction and that is wonderful!
