Product Reviews of Tanita BF680W Duo Scale Plus Body Fat Monitor with Athletic Mode and Body WaterProduct Review: Accurate every time... Summary: 5 Stars
First "bathroom type" scale that I've had that is consistently accurate. It was perfect with doctors scale. The fat monitor seems to work correctly also. This scale is worth the money and I love it and highly recommend it.
Product Review: Accurate weight and body fat Summary: 5 Stars
I did some research and bought the Tanita BF-680W based on several reviews. I realize that the body fat measurements probably need to be followed as trends rather than absolute numbers(percentage). However, I also bought an Accu-Measure pinch body fat caliper. Both the Accu-Measure and the Tanita measurements were exactly the same, about 18-20% on the Accu-measure, 19.4% on the Tanita (several measurements). My body weight was also the same as that measured on two different scales at my gym. The instructions were clear and it was easy to program. I am pretty average weight and build (170 lbs, 5' 10") and the algorithms are doing a pretty good job for me. I can't say what the results would be for an body type further out on the extreme.
Product Review: Accurate, a must-own if you're trying to lose fat Summary: 5 Stars
I use the caliper method along with this, and the results are always approximately equal. This scale won't give you your exact bodyfat, but the number it gives you is pretty accurate, which you can tell just based on looking in the mirror and going on the net and looking at what different bodyfat percentages look like, and more importantly it will tell you if your bodyfat percentage is going up or down. When I'm dieting and exercising properly, the number goes down by small increments each time. When I'm stuffing myself and not going to the gym enough, the number goes up. The negative reviews are from people who probably didn't follow the procedure correctly.
The weighing scale is extremely accurate, and you should take that measurement in the morning after you've used the bathroom and before you have eaten. The body fat measurement should be taken later in the day, and you shouldn't be full or food or water.
One tip: don't use the athlete setting unless you are an actual athlete, because it'll give you far too flattering a reading. If you are an active person who goes to the gym three times a week and does weight training and cardio, that does not make you an athlete. If you play sports for a few hours five times a week, then you can probably use the athlete setting.
Product Review: Accurate, easy to use Summary: 4 Stars
The scale is easy to use, well made and the weight seems accurate. If I step on and off several times, it still shows the same weight. It also has a feature that shows your previous weight, and that's helpful. However, I'm not so sure about the body fat and water percentages. How can a scale measure those things through the soles of my feet?
Product Review: An Accurate, Reliable Bathroom Scale Summary: 5 Stars
This scale is reliable and accurate to 0.2 lbs and is helping us take daily control of our diet and exercise. Good buy!
