Product Review: It's a nice scale...

This is a nice digital scale for weight. And the body fat reading are somewhat useful, if you don't take them too seriously. The manual gives you no guidance whether to enter yourself as 'male/female' or 'male/female athlete'. By going to the web site, you can get a hazy description of the difference, and make your best guess. In practice, for me, selecting 'male athlete' will give a body fat reading half that of 'male'. So, you really have no idea what your actual body fat % is, but using the same measure over time can tell you if the % is increasing or decreasing.
I ended up using 'male', not 'athlete', since that number corresponded most closely with a recent figure computed by my doctor, using a hand held monitor from another manufacturer. But, without that guidance, I'd have no idea what the is real number. So, this is a good scale, with a FWIW body fat monitoring bell-and-whistle.

This is a great scale. It has all of the functionality we was looking for since we were just looking for a way to track my stats and my husbands stats (note that I wasn't looking for super precise measurements in terms of the body fat percentage and body water percentage). The style is nice, and I like the memory and guest features. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.Product Review: Lovely

I loved my old scale, and things seemed to be working, but I was suspicious that it wasn't always being completely honest with me. So, I did what you do, and started checking out the ads on Amazon. You know, just to see what was out there. The Tanita's parabolic curves and cool symmetry immediately caught my eye, and I could hardly wait to get her back to my place and into my bathroom.
Tanita wanted to know all about me right away, or at least my age, height and if I was, you know, athletic. I gave my data, and she said she's remember me as number one.
I immediately fell in love because she said I weighed 1.5 pounds less than my old scale. Oh, flattery will get you everywhere. She told me about my body fat percentage, and let me know with a knowing minus sign that not only did I weigh less, but my body fat was lower than average. Owing to Tanita's considerable knowledge, I also learned just well hydrated I was.
I've found the results were consistent, and the she is easy to read, even at the crack of dawn when the rest of the world is blurry. Visiting Tanita in the morning I just give her a little nudge with my toe, and she chirps cheerfully and greets me with my height and age - just like all my friends. While she's open-minded and has room for another user's preset, I'm going to keep her all to myself for now.

The scale is accurate for the most part. What I don't like about it is the mild fluctuations from one day to the next. I don't believe that your body changes that much overnight. The body fat and water percentages seem to be in the ballpark, but I don't have anything to compare them to. I knew when I bought this that the body fat monitor would just be used a rough estimate to what the actual number was, so I wasn't really altogether surprised when I found out that it was about 10% off. But, let's face it, the sensors are in the feet which are a poor tester for body fat percentage. Great scale that will track your weights for two different people based on age and height scale. I was really impressed by that. I do like this scale but it might have more bells and whistles than is necessary and might lead people astray believing that they body fat is higher or lower and base their body fat percentage on this machine alone. If you buy this product, just know that it's a good place to learn approximately where you are but to be sure go to the gym or a doctor to have it done correctly.
