Product Reviews of Tanita BF679W Duo Scale Plus Body Fat Monitor with Body WaterProduct Review: Great Scale, Accurate, Fat monitor is great. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this scale, my first impression when i saw it out of the box was "looks cheep" because was very light but i has 10 years of warranty and tanita is a reliable brand.
The operation was easy, i dont like when readings appear change to fast to watter %, and then change again to weight and % fat.
But i can tell you that readings seem accurate I compara with the scale of my gym (the ones with weights you move) and weights are the same.
I Like very much the fact that you can monitor %fat, because you can see if you really have been loosing weight of watter or really loosing fat.
Product Review: Great Scale. Summary: 5 Stars
The scale is exactly as it is described and works well. I'm very pleased.
Product Review: Great Value Summary: 4 Stars
I read many differing reviews for this product, but I am very happy with my purchase. For the money I am not sure this scale can be beat. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the water or fat percentage measure, but everytime I have tested myself 3 times in a row the percentages are never different by more than 0.5%.
Product Review: Great product Summary: 5 Stars
I did my research when I was buying this scale and everywhere I looked I kept coming back to this one. Its very accurate and easy to use. Programing it is a breeze and unlike some other ones it remembers your age , hight, weight and all that info for next time so all you have to do is kick your button and step on. Very convienient. Great product I'm very happy with it.
Product Review: Great scale (IF you know how to properly use a scale!) Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great scale. It produces very consistent results; always giving me the same reading (or +-0.2 lbs) when measuring back to back. The reviewers who say it's inaccurate probably do not know how to use a scale properly. If your weight changes several pounds from one reading to another, you most likely either moved the scale or are standing differently on it. Also, no impedance analysis scale will give you an accurate reading of your body fat. It greatly depends on your hydration level, time of day of the measurement and your body composition. This means there are two things you need to realize to use the body fat function properly:
1. the number displayed is just a guideline, it may be off by up to 10% depending on your unique body composition; what you need to track is CHANGE over time
2. you need to measure under the same circumstances each time for data to be accurate, since this is difficult to do, your best bet is to take frequent measurements (each day or week) and look at the trend over time
Here's how I successfully use this scale: I measure my weight and body fat every morning after my morning toilet, wearing the same clothes, standing the same way on the scale and never moving it around. My weight varies by at most 2 lbs from day to day (usually much less) and body fat at most +-1%. I then record my stats in an iPhone app that can be used to show and plot the data over time. If you look at some weeks or months worth of data, you will definitely see a trend and the data becomes very credible in representing how much fat vs lean mass you've gained or lost.
