Product Reviews of Swiffer WetJet Spray, Mop Floor Cleaner Starter Kit (Packaging May Vary)Product Review: ...solotion for buying their "solution" Summary: 5 Stars
I love my Wetjet, but I am a tree hugger so of course I don't like the solution (or the pads) that come with the product. Instead of buying their solution I have an industrial spray bottle of vinegar and warm water (you can use whatever you like) that I spray my floors with as I mop. It is the same concept as using the Swiffer sprayer except you don't have to buy batteries or their solution. The microfiber cloths do work well. The reason I stay with the Swiffer instead of using just an ordinary microfiber mop is that I find the Swiffer is lighter in weight and is able to pivot and twist more to reach hard to clean places like beside/behind your toilet.
Product Review: 1.Recent change to pads and 2. Make your own solution Summary: 3 Stars
1.Recently I have noticed a change in the pads. I don't have any of the old ones to compare but I am sure the newer ones are less effective in cleaning and get saturated with dirt much faster. I do not like them.
2. I found by simply using a channel lock pliers or vice grips you can easily remove the cap on the bottles of cleaning solution and pour your own mix in the twist the cap back on. Cake and Pie. I use about a half cup vinegar and fill the rest of the way up with distilled water to prevent mineral deposits which could cause streaking.
Now if I could find a good replacement for the pads which is cheaper +/or does a better job I would be happy.
Product Review: A five-star product, but so [$$$]! Summary: 4 Stars
I held out on getting this for a long time, thinking that maybe they would come down in price after their competition introduced similar products. When the competition arrived, and the price did not lower, I bit the bullet and bought the WetJet. I am very impressed with its cleaning capabilities. This works far better than its predecessor, the Swiffer Wet. I found myself having to change the cloth constantly on that one. This cleans our whole kitchen floor with one cloth, and could go for more! My only complaint about this is that it is awfully [$$$] for what is essentially a paper towel on a stick with a sprayer attached. I suppose this is the price for convenience. But this definitely beats the heck out of the days of the old-fashioned mop, and the cleaner in the sprayer loosens even very tough dirt spots- our dog tends to drag in mud after we let her outside, and we sometimes forget to wipe off her paws before we let her in. All in all a great product, but I do wish they weren't so [$$$]- and I hope the replacement cleaner and wipes come down in price soon too!
Product Review: A real mop is cheaper and lasts longer Summary: 1 Stars
"Swiffers" didn't exist just a few years ago, yet somehow we've kept our floors clean throughout the ages. This is just marketing garbage designed to hook you into a relatively cheap handle with overly expensive refills. No wonder P&G bought Gillette a few years back. They are big fans of raking their customers over the coals. Same thing there. Get a 20 year old safety razor and pay 20 cents for a refill rather than their exorbitant $3-$4 per cartridge.
Product Review: A sock would work better. Summary: 1 Stars
I think that people who give this product any rating other than 1-star must have a very low standard when it comes to hygiene and cleanliness. If you want to clean up a dot of catsup, then this product will work. Anything more than that, and forget it.
The review by Tina0 is the best review on this worthless piece of you-know-what! Nothing beats a real mop, but like Tina0, I needed something that would quickly clean up a sticky floor. I was pretty excited about my new gadget. And, yes, the pads look just like a diaper or napkin (with the wings cut off.)
After I used it, I was really peeved. I felt ripped off! When you use this thing, it's like you're simply spreading around the crumbs and whatnot on the floor. The "wet" solution is a complete joke. It smells very strong, so perhaps the theory is "if it smells clean, you'll think it's doing the job." Wrong!
Don't let anyone tell you that this thing works. And, don't believe anyone who tells you that the solution doesn't leave a film.
I could have used some Windex and a sock and I would've gotten better results.
Moral of the story: sometimes things that seem convenient, really aren't. I wound up purchasing a new mop ($4) and some Fabuloso ($1) and a new bucket ($3), for a total of $8!! My floors can't get cleaner than this--and the citrus Fabuloso smells wonderful. Beat that, Swiffer!
