Product Review: Freshen, not clean, but good for that

Swash does just what it says it will -- it "freshens" dry-cleanables in the dryer. Each "swash" is a dampened cloth that is placed in the dryer with up to 5 garments -- we've used wool sweaters, silk shirts and silk and rayon clothing. Swash makes no claim that it will actually clean those garments, but will give tired-looking garments a fresh scent and remove wrinkles, including jeans, by "steaming" them in the dryer. "Steam" probably overstates the case, but it definitely works. Five nice sweaters, including one older cashmere that I put in to check out for the effect on good fabric, turned out just as promised --fresh, warm, and, when quickly folded after removing from the dryer, pretty much wrinkle free. I did not pre-treat a few spots, to see what would happen. They did not come out, but Swash did not promise they would. The silk and rayon garments really freshened up nicely -- better than the sweaters, perhaps because they are lighter weight -- and definitely felt "cleaner." I think this is a product I will keep in the house as part of our laundry product line -- I was impressed with the way Swash made it possible to stretch a few more wearings out of clothing that need dry cleaning. My only quibble is with a smarmy line on the package where the manufacturer lists what fabrics can and can't be treated with the product. After stating that Swash should not be used for leather, it actually says "sorry, rock stars." Huh? This is not a dry cleaning system (product description never states it is a replacement for dry cleaning, I assumed that it would), that you may have used before, but it does freshen up your garments. They will not remove stains or daily wear dirty spots that develop on your clothes. You can buy other products from the same company that will remove stains that works with these sheets. I tried it on my off white light jacket that required dry cleaning and it did not remove the slightly dirty spots. They will make your garments smell better and remove odors without an over powering or masking scent.
These sheets are perfect to use on a garment that is fairly clean. The sheets will help remove wrinkles as well as give your garment a freshly cleaned feel and scent, but they are not designed to use as dry cleaning dirty garments. It does what is is supposed to do....freshen up garments.

Swash Steam It Out Tumblers are a great solution for quickly refreshing your "dry clean only" clothes. They worked wonders on a silky blouse that had become severely wrinkled in my closet. I was in a hurry, so I just tossed the blouse into the dryer with a Swash cloth, came back 10 minutes later and my blouse looked like it had just been pressed at the cleaners--no wrinkles at all! True wash 'n' wear!
Polyesters & silks work best with these cloths. Cotton clothes (like blue jeans), while emerging with a fresh, clean scent, were still wrinkled after "Swashing." Of course, Tide never promised to remove wrinkles--just to freshen clothes--but the great performance on the dry cleanables left me expecting a little better performance on my blue jeans. Hence, no five star review.
Thumbnail Review? Swash Tumblers performed great on my dry cleanables (blouses, dresses, and dress pants); if you need to refresh your cotton clothes, use Downy Wrinkle Releaser 33.8 fl oz (1 L) instead.

I used these on a few pairs of my and my husband's dress pants and experienced no problems. The scent is nice, but not overwhelming. Wearing the pants the next day did not make me feel as though I just covered myself in perfume (unlike another product I've used). Our pants are refreshed, wrinkle-free, and can go a few more wears before going to the cleaners.
Additionally, although not used exactly like other products there was no visible transfer of the liquid from the sheet to our pants. Just in case anyone is worried about that sort of thing.
