Product Reviews of Stop Thumb Sucking with Thumb Guard Kit (Size Medium/Ages 5-6)Product Review: Took several tries but it did work Summary: 5 Stars
Since birth my daughter has sucked her thumb. The doctor told me to ignore it and it would eventually go away. When she turned 3 I started trying different things with no success when I came accross a thumbguard ad. I ordered one and immediately started using it on her. She cried at first but then just started sucking the thumbguard while wearing it. After 30 days I gave up for a few months but then ended up trying it 2 more seperate times. The last time I decided to punch holes towards the base of it so it couldn't create suction and within 2 days I noticed she wasn't sucking so after a week I took it off completely and it has now been 2 months and I can safely say my now 4 year old daughter does not suck her thumb.
Product Review: Tried everything else, this was what finally worked! Summary: 5 Stars
We tried the Mavala STOP nail polish, gloves at night, rewards--even sewed a sock to the end of her jammie arms, and she pushed her arm out through the neck hole to suck her thumb! This is what finally worked. She's a month shy of 5, so definitely old enough to give up this lifelong habit, but it's a hard one to kick. Thankfully this product did the trick. We have 10 days of bands to go; I'm thinking about buying more bands to make SURE she's kicked it for good. Already her teeth have moved. A rather apparent open bite has closed signficantly. She'll still need ortho work for sure, but some of the thumb damage is already reversing itself. Very grateful for this product!
Product Review: WHOA on the price increase! Summary: 5 Stars
One-Hand ThumbSucking Kit Medium fits ages 5-6 years
I have to say I purchased this Dec 2007 for $45. Recommended to a friend a week or so after we received it, price went up to $50. Worked great, but broke (palm area) after 3-4 weeks. I wasn't sure if I should replace it and just watched my boy. He did great for about a month and slowly the thumb has snuck back in.....it's now almost as bad as it was to begin with. So I come back today to order another and it's $75!!!! WHOA, that's a 50% increase in only 7 months and yes, bought it from the same seller.
Product Review: Works Great! Summary: 5 Stars
Thumb Guard has helped my 5 1/2 year old daughter to quit sucking her thumb. She was motivated to stop, but couldn't do it without extra help. She never tried to take the guard off, but needed something to make it impossible to suck her thumb. She has been using thumb guard for 3 weeks now. At first, she would wake up, ask to take the guard off, and quickly suck her thumb for a minute for a quick fix. After a couple of days, this ended and she has stopped completely. We continue to wear the guard since she hasn't completed the recommended 4 week time period. I am certain that when we no longer use thumb guard at night, she will still refrain from her bad habit. Well worth the money!
Product Review: Works great, but not very sturdy Summary: 4 Stars
This guard worked great, however, it started to come apart after about 3 weeks. I wish I had just bought the double set so that I had an extra when the first one broke. After trying MANY things to stop the thumb-sucking, this was the only thing that worked. She didn't mind wearing at all. So I'm a big fan, but if your child is active, buy the double set in case one breaks!
