I bought a pair of New Balance walking shoes which are excellent except for the fact they completely lacked any kind of arch support. As I walked long distances my right foot would roll inward a bit (especially on inclines) eventually causing fatigue to my ankle and soreness to my knee. The insoles supplied with the shoes were simply a flat piece of foam 2.5 MM thick with some fabric glued to them. I was shopping for a different shoe design but thought I would first see if an insole upgrade would help. The Spenco insoles gave me all the arch support I need and keep my feet in a perfect ergonomic position. Also, I wear a size 13 and the Spenco insoles fit perfectly with no trimming needed. I am going to upgrade all my walking/hiking shoes with these insoles.
