Customer Review: I wouldn't be without N-Acetyl-Cysteine

I started taking the amino acid N-Acetyl-Cysteine in 1998 after reading about its beneficial affect on the immune system in DR. ATKINS VITA-NUTRIENT SOLUTION, or what I call my "Supplement Bible." One of the values of NAC that Dr. Atkins emphasized was its ability to stimulate the body to create Glutathione, and he noted research at Harvard and Stanford Universities and in Europe. Glutathione taken orally is tricky because of its short shelf life and it is weakened by the digestive system. Rather than try expensive intravenous injections, I chose the precursor route, NAC stimulating the production of Glutathione. It was put to the test in 2004 when I was at death's door with a pancreas problem. Now with only 20% of my pancreas, I am convinced N-Acetyl-Cysteine is a big part of why I am doing just fine, and I don't have to bother with IV's! Gussie (Norma J) McRobert.
