I use 1500mg of L-tryptophan nightly to both help with sleep and to help my thinning hair. Sleep is wonderful and it seems my hair is doing better. My doctor recommended this to me.

Product Review: Works great -- but they're horse-size pills!

L-Tryptophan helps both my husband and me fall asleep quickly, even when nothing else will work. Even with intractable cervical disc pain (I can't take any pain relievers, including OTC or herbals because I've developed allergies to ALL of them), this helps me to fall asleep. It doesn't reduce the pain; it just helps me sleep despite the pain. So far, this is the only thing that does that.

The only downside is the size of these pills. My husband doesn't have any trouble swallowing them, but I have to gag them down, one at a time. Fortunately, Source Naturals makes a caplet that is much easier to swallow. I'll continue to buy these for my husband, and I'll buy the caplets for myself.

Researched many products for a sleep aide, visited the organics / Nutritional stores as well and every road lead to this product. We are using it with success and have even reordered. No "after effects" the next morning - just getting a more restful night INSTEAD of waking up around 2-3 am and having difficulty falling back to sleep.
