I've used L-trypophan in the past many years ago with success. I'm glad to see it's back on the market once again. This is a definite sleep aid with no "hangover" aspects. After using this for a few days as directed the results are effective.

Source Naturals generally makes very cost effective supplements. For L-Tryptophan this was the cheapest brand name supplement I could find for it for a long time. The bottle comes with plastic wrapped around the cap and with a paper/plastic cap under the plastic top. So you can feel secure the product hasnt been tampered with.

As far as the capsule itself I find it to be unremarkable, it looks the same as other brands. I haven't noticed this to make me feel sleepy at all when I compare it to taking melatonin, which you can take in a smaller form. Also I find melatonin to be much cheaper and more widely available. But in regarding this particular product it is what it says it is and makes L-Tryptophan affordable to the consumer when compared to some other more expensive brands.

Made no difference to my hapless sleep pattern - I had high hopes after reading the reviews but found it didn't work for me - my husband and I shared the bottle and he sweetly suggested it 'might' have made a difference.

I have had a sleep disorder since childhood that causes me to experience anxiety and hot legs about 30 minutes after laying down for the night resulting in sleep taking about 2-4 hours to start, no matter how tired I am. This is in addition to waking up every 45 minutes and than taking up to another hour or more to go back to sleep.

I have used several different prescription sleep products off and on, as my doctor will not prescribe more than 2 weeks at a time for a month period. Which is probably because constant use just ends up in a gradual ineffectiveness of the product, not to mention that mental dull tired after effect feeling you get that makes you feel like a walking zombie on Prozac the rest of the day.

After scouring through the internet through the years in search of natural health alternatives, I have tried multiple products and combinations of products in pursuit of being able to go to sleep faster and stay asleep longer. After trial and error, I came up with a combination of products that seem to work better than nothing -3 valerian capsules, 1Schiff Melatonin Plus 3 mg Melatonin with 25 mg Theanine - For Stress Relief and a Sounder Sleep - 300 Tablets, 2 Magnesium tablets, and 1 naproxen tablet. The addition of 3 L-tryptophan capsules to this mix resulted in being able to stay asleep for about twice as long before waking up. Adding 1 tablet of Source Naturals Gaba Calm, Orange, Tablets, 120 tablets as I was trying to go to sleep for the night resulted in being able to fall asleep within an hour. So the GABA seemed to knock the edge off of the anxiety and hot legs symptom that I was feeling.

So far, nothing is quite as effective as prescription drugs can be, but using the L-tryptophan product has helped double the amount of sleep I was getting without feeling groggy the next morning. I know everyone is different when it comes to how their body is going to react to different supplemnts, but for me, I would rate it thumbs up and will continue buying the product.
