I recently ordered something from a company and as a "freebee" sample, received a 10-tablet bottle of L-Tryptophan. Tried it (a gelcap) and LOVED it. I thought I was sleeping okay with waking up several times a night but being able to turn over and go right back to sleep. For the first time in YEARS I did not awaken until dawn! I planned to order more, but until that shipment could arrive, I found L-Tryptophan at a local Vitamin Shoppe. This was a HARD tablet, big enough to choke a horse. It was twice the strength of the sample one and did NOTHING for my sleep!
Please be sure you try a gelcap for easier absorption and getting what you pay for. Also, while it was wonderful for me, my fiancee saw no difference. Guess it's like most everything else...what works for one does not work for others. I have since received my order like the sample I received and now sleep wonderfully, naturally and awaken feeling like "the Duracell bunny on speed"!!! LOVE IT!

I come from a long line of semi-insomniacs and have always had difficuly falling asleep and remaining so without waking up every hour or two. Since I have been taking 3 capsules of the tryptophan before bed I have been sleeping like a baby everynight and feel much more refreshed and rested during the day.Product Review: Good quality, good price, probably would have preferred tablets.

I purchased this to assist with social anxiety, and taking it regularly has made a tremendous difference. This brand is very potent, and I've had no problems with its consistency. In fact, 500 mg is far too much for my body to handle at one time, so I ended up breaking the capsules into halves by using emptied capsules from a vitamin. I wish I had gotten tablets, so I could have just broken the tablets in half! However, this product's great, and many people suffering from SAD, including myself, have found it very useful.Product Review: Great for relaxation and sleep.

While not a complete fix for chronic insomnia, this is very helpful when used in combination with other natural remedies like kava.
