I been having bad insomnia and feeling really low the past week and tried 5-htp, valerian and some calming tea's, but none of them helped with sleep. I woke up this morning after very little sleep, had dark bags under my eyes, and just felt really groggy throughout the day. Came across this amino acid called L-theanine and heard only good things about it, so went out and bought some (it ain't cheap!) but all I can say is WOW! Within 30 minutes of taking 2 150mg pills of this stuff I was really relaxed, happy and felt that if I tried, I could drift off into la la land within a few minutes if I wanted to! Truly a great supplement. I can't wait to take some more before bed so I can get a good night's sleep...something which I haven't had in awhile. I recommend that anyone suffering from anxiety, depression or insomnia consider taking this.

L-Theanine is a unique amino acid found almost exclusively in the tea plant (Camellia sinensis) and is the primary ingredient contributing to the unusual taste of green tea. Animal studies have shown that L-Theanine crosses the blood brain barrier, increases dopamine and GABA levels in the brain, and inhibits the stimulatory properties of caffeine. Human studies have shown that taking L-Theanine results in the emission of brain waves associated with a state of relaxation.
