I bought this sound bear for my daughter's room when she was 10 weeks old. Her room is very near the kitchen which is one of the noisiest rooms in the house. The loud noises were starting to wake her up so I bought this sound bear hoping it would dround out the kitchen noises and as a plus would be a cute addition to her room. It did all of those things. It has several different sound settings. We found the white noise worked the best to dround out the kitchen noise and she is able to fall asleep without a problem. You can take the sound cassette out of the bear and it's very easy to travel with as it is small. The volume is adjustable going from very low to very high. You can set it to turn off at different time intervals or keep it running continuously. I have had no problems with it working. I have really liked it and so has my daughter. The only draw back in my opinion is that you cannot plug it in to an outlet so you have to rely on batteries all the time. We use the rechargable batteries and change them out every other day because on around the third night the machine will run out of batteries and when the batteries begin to die the machine makes crackeling, sputtering and hissing noises which actually wakes my daughter up. I wish there was the option to plug it in as well so I didn't have to worry about changing out the batteries every other day. The non rechargable batteries last longer, but you end up going through A LOT of batteries if you use the machine all night long and for naps like we do. I think this would be the perfect sound machine if it had the option to plug into an outlet as well.
