Product Reviews of Sonic Alert SBR350ss Sonic Boom Vibrating Alarm Clock with AM/FM Radio

Product Review: In the running for worst designed alarm clock ever
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this clock because I have a hella hard time getting up in the morning. But it is simply not worth your money. The LCD display letters are too bright, even on the dim view, and I have to lay it flat when I sleep. The alarm clock has AM/FM alarm feature, which is why I bought it, so I could use the radio alarm and vibrating feature at the same time but it turns out you can't use them at the same time!!! If someone is buying a radio/vibrating alarm, you'd assume it was because they wanted to use them both. Furthermore, the thing doesn't work at random, about once every few days, and you see all those little buttons on top? The second one down from the right is the button to turn it off, the third from the right is the snooze. They are right next to each other, the same size, and in the middle of a bunch of other small buttons. A snooze button should be large and easily distinguishable from other buttons. I don't know how many times I've accidentally turned it off instead, defeating the whole purpose. Easily the worst designed alarm clock I've ever bought. Yeah, it vibrates, and it does a good job at that, when it works, when you haven't accidentally turned it off or thrown it across the room because it's blinding you (you can't place it across the room, by the way, the vibrator cord is too short).

A piece of junk.

Product Review: It works

My 16 year old son, who slept through all prior alarm clocks, wakes up with this one. The vibration, sound and blinking display are all very annoying so that he wakes up. It doesn't always get him out of bed but he has not slept through it.

Product Review: Loud Clock, Strong Vibration
Summary: 4 Stars

I recommend this product with some reservations. I have had it for over a year.

I am an extremely heavy sleeper. I sleep through fire alarms and earthquakes (one small one). It used to take 7 alarms to get me up (sometimes still does). I bought this clock for the vibration feature. This clock works. It tells time consistently with little drift over time. There are two brightness settings for the display and neither one interferes with my sleep. As for the alarm, there are 4 different settings: buzz only, vibration only, buzz+vibration, and radio only. The buzz sound progressively gets louder and louder as the alarm goes off. The buzz is extremely loud and annoying. The vibration works well if you put the disc in your pillow case or under your pillow. I had a problem keeping the disc there though because it vibrates so much that it will fall off the bed. If it vibrates on a wood floor, it will absolutely wake up your neighbors. Thus I had to relocate the disc to secure it underneath the fitted sheet. It is less effective in this location. If you don't have neighbors to annoy, I would say it almost works better just vibrating on a wood floor (very frightening sound). I do think I have been habituated to the vibration a bit as it has worked less effectively over time. The buzz, however, is still very effective at waking me up. The snooze button is clearly indicated by a raised bump. It is pretty impossible to accidentally turn the alarm off when snoozing as this requires moving the switch on the right side of the unit all the way down to the bottom position whereas the snooze is on top of the unit. The radio works very well and it is extremely loud.

My biggest reservation/disappointment with this alarm is that it doesn't have a radio+vibration setting.

Product Review: No bells and whistles here, only a vibrating buzzer
Summary: 4 Stars

If you're looking for a very basic alarm clock that happens to have a vibrating attachment, then this might just be the product for you. If you want anything more than that, look elsewhere.

PROS:
-vibrator works as described; the guy who said it felt like a "gentle massage" must sleep like he's in a coma. Seriously, you have to get up and turn it off to go back to sleep. The mere noise it generates has (on occasion) woken up people in other rooms
-easy to set up
-cord for the vibrator is long enough that you don't feel constricted in placement of the device
-device does *not* look cheap, at least in my opinion.
-display can be dimmed

CONS:
-the button to turn off the alarm (whatever you may be using) is not very intuitively designed
-the clock takes the type of battery I thought they had stopped using in anything; consequently, I have not bought it and every time the device loses power (which happens more often than you would think, because it is easy to pull out the cord) I have to reset the clock
-I don't know if I got the kind that knows to shut itself off or not, which makes me a little paranoid that I'm going to start a fire if I ever decide to just leave it buzzing for fun

Once again, it's main function (vibrating) works well. I don't really know about the AM/FM, though, because I have bad reception in my area. The other issues are more minor nuisances than anything.

Product Review: Not all is advertised to be!!!
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this clock because I am hearing impaired. The clock is loud but not loud enough for a hearing impaired person. The shaker part of the clock works sometimes, but not all of the time.

It not one I would recommend. I would look for one that is better made.
