This is a really great product. I have had one for several years. I have an extreme hearing loss so I can't even hear the buzzer on this or any other alarm clock. This is the only thing on which I can depend to awaken me reliably at the right time. The way to use the vibrating pad is to install it under the mattress between the mattress and the box spring -- not in the pillow or in your clothing. Believe me, you'll get the vibrating effect through the mattress springs -- it's really very effective. If you put the vibrator in your pillow or just have it next to you on the bed it will wander off during the night and not work as well as putting it under the mattress to awaken you. I'm a heavy sleeper, and a bit hard of hearing in my left ear. This alarm clock showed up on Gold Box Deals, so I took a chance.
It works great! While the LED is huge, the overall thickness of the clock is rather thin.
You can set the alarm from soft to extra loud via a dial. You can also change the tone from low to high via another dial. The settings can be locked, so you don't accidently turn the alarm time to something you don't want.
The vibrating part of the alarm is great, and is why I bought this. I put it under my mattress, and while my other two alarm clocks had been going off for ten minutes (I hadn't heard them), when my bed began to shake, I immediately woke up from my deep sleep and there wasn't a chance I was going back to sleep. I haven't timed how long it vibrates, but on my test run of three minutes, it didn't shut off by itself.
If you have trouble waking up, and have wondered about vibrating alarm clocks, this one is great.

Finally, an alarm clock that can wake me from the dead. The bed shaker works well by itself. If you're really tired, the added sound alarm can be tuned to your favorite annoying pitch and then adjusted from gentle to robust volume. The visual display is clear and large enough to read with bleary morning eyes. The only inprovement would be to add a second alarm time. The population of AD/HD folks who need to wake to take meds and then wake again in an hour or so to actually get going would really be helped by that feature!Product Review: If this doesn't wake you up, you have larger problems!!

Very LOUD, and adjustable volume as well (thankfully). The shaker is icing on the cake. If you can sleep through this thing, you are either way too overmedicated or dead. The alarm can be set so loud if you sleep with your windows open you'l wake people three houses away! Also has a knob to adjust the sound, so you can find the most annoying possible frequency for you, personally. GREAT PRODUCT.
