Product Review: Great alarm for those hard of hearing

I purchased this alarm w/vibrator for my 85 year old mother who is hard of hearing. She is so hard of hearing that she would sleep through 3 alarms going off at the same time--a buzzer, a radio on LOUD & and second alarm buzzer! With this new Sonic Boom Loud Vibrating Alarm Clock, if the buzzer doesn't wake her (and it's pretty loud), the unit's vibrator that is under her mattress pad will wake her for sure. I am hearing impaired AND a very heavy sleeper, so I bought this because
I can sleep through auditory alarms no matter how loud they are or how far across the room I have to walk in order to turn it off. It worked perfectly. If you are hard to wake up and normal auditory alarms don't work, I would definately recommend this product or at least a product of this type.
HOWEVER I bought the thing in December and it broke in March. The design is quite flimsy. I really wish more mainstream, high quality companies made vibrating alarm clocks because this was simply not a reliable product and was too cheaply made.
Buy it if it is the only thing that will wake you up, but purchase with caution.
Product Review: Great for Anyone Who Has Trouble Waking Up

We got this for our teenage daughter (who is not hard of hearing, by the way), and the first time she used it, it woke up everybody in the house and the cats. This is a very nice - and very effective - timepiece that I would recommend to anyone who has even occasional trouble getting up in the morning. This thing is great. I bought it because I'm someone who often pushes snooze about 5 or 6 times as part of my waking up process... You can imagine that hearing an alarm go off 6 times spread out over the course of an hour would make a roommate want to kill me, but I only use the vibrate feature which is quiet and never, ever fails (or would fail) to wake me up. It's great... also good to know that it has an audible alarm that can be used alone or in conjunction with the bed shaker that's volume adjustable. My only complaint (and it's very minor) is that it doesn't stand up on its own very well (it stands up, but is easily knocked over by a half asleep person attempting to shut it off like myself.) The cord is probably like 6ft long, but could be longer. Nonetheless, a great product!Product Review: Great product!!

This alarm clock is great, I've bought it twice because my mom took my first one!!! The vibrating function on these alarms are unreal. I WILL NOT wake up to any normal beeping alarm. I consistently woke up with my old alarms after having them go off for 15-20 minutes causing me to be late several times.
With this alarm clock and the vibrator underneath my pillow, I don't even need the beeping to wake up anymore.
I highly recommend this product or one of the several different Sonic Alert alarms as I am pretty sure they are all similar.
I only give it 4/5 because the snooze button isn't big enough and it's hard to find when you're real groggy.
***UPDATE 02/03/11***
After two years of usage, I can say that this was probably one of my best purchases on Amazon. The clock is still performing at its best, unfortunately some of the switches (alarm/time) are slowly getting stuck/harder to move, when you're half asleep trying to change the alarm time, it's pretty annoying.
I have recently purchased a Philips Wake-Up Light Philips Hf3470/60 Wake-up Light, White
to replace this one (after reading the rave reviews of waking up feeling more refreshed, less "jarred") and will be trialing the Philips light for several more weeks.
Don't worry though, I still plan on having my Sonic Boom nearby and as a backup alarm just in case, and will definitely use it again if the Philips light fails me. If anyone is having trouble sleeping through an alarm clock, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this clock.
